Big 12 Talking Expansion

I prefer:

Boston College and Virginia to Big 10
Va, Tech and N.C. State to SEC
Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., and Baylor to Pac 12
FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech., Clemson, Pitt, Syracuse, Louisville, Wake Forest, Memphis, and UConn to Big 12
ACC dead

What about Notre Dame?
Go Big East for Basketball and keep Football independent

I remember for several years, every time I would see a post or an article about expansion, I would get knots in my stomach wondering about what was going to happen to the Big East and SJU in particular. Now I find this all so entertaining. Our conference is great and we never have to worry about schools jumping ship. Personally, I hope the ACC dies a slow death.

Screw the ACC but i wouldn't mind a few decent schools to BIG EAST are conference is in great condition as is and is only going to get better from here on out but adding teams like CINCI and UCONN deff wont hurt

Are they negotiating a new tv deal. If not, why split the pie with two newcomers?

How does pulling in two small market programs provide the big 12 schools with more money?

Uconn football isn't worth anything to anybody. I don't see them being of value there.

I'm hoping you're right.

I know most of us have a deep antipathy for UConn, but I still would rather see them in the new Big East than one of the super conferences. It's the lesser of two evils.

Eastern football in general is very week. Syracuse, BC, Rutgers, Pitt, Penn State, UCONN, Maryland, Virginia are not national players.

Football wise, the Big 12 is poorly run conference. They kowtow to UT and by allowing the Horns to have their own network with ESPN only succeeded in breaking up a great rivalry with A&M and running off Nebraska. They got lucky with TCU joining but unlike many of the power conferences do not have the numbers for a championship game (which screwed Baylor and TCU in 2014). Big 12's number 1, 2 and 3 priorities are football, gridiron pigskin and NCAA College Football. Basketball might not even be in their vocabulary.

UCONN wants to become a football school though and Cinci is trying to so i doubt they will come back to BIG EAST because of their football aspirations...would be a step back for them

I would like to see the following dream additions to the Big East in priority order:

1. St. Mary's and Gonzaga- But the travelling time would be a killer for most schools.
2. ND and UConn- But there is that football question. I believe ND has to be in a major FB conference to be considered for a bowl bid. UConn had dreams of being the Alabama of the northeast. That is good for a chuckle.

Then there is always Dayton!

I do miss Syracuse, UConn and BC not being in the Big East. Those were some fun times.

The key to the Big East is for a top notch St. John's Program. Hopefully, we are on our way.

UCONN will be getting a new AD, so that may tell a lot about the direction.

As long as a school has a FBS football program, they will receive zero consideration for the BE. Cincy has had a D1/FBS program for a lot longer than UCONN and neither one has any intention of downgrading or dropping their programs. ND is beyond a pipe dream. They joined the ACC and as part of the agreement, although not involved in the ACC football championship race, has to play five or six (don't remember exactly but is one of the two) of their football games against ACC opponents every year.

BE is fine with the teams they have now. If a decision is made to expand to 12, it will be with schools who either don't have a football program and if it does, it is not an FBS program or are not planning to become one.

Great 88!
And I would never take UCONN, BC or Syracuse back AND
I would never allow a " better than thou" school such as Notre Dame pick & choose sports - it's all sports or none!

The new Big East seems fine, cohesive and the way it should be, as is, no additions necessary.

all the best

You realize ND played in the Fiesta Bowl this year...right?

Im a bit perplexed why when B-12 expansion is discussed, San Diego St never appears to be a major target for them. It would seem a no brainer. It is a large school, with a large alumni base, in a large city and has really upgraded the quality of their athletics in recent years. Theyre not going to poach any current Pac-12 school so SDSU is the only means of getting into the SoCal market.

Maybe the texas schools don't want more recruiting competition for Cali talent or maybe the conf is afraid that if they add SDSU, the Pac-12 will retaliate and try to poach Ok, Ok st, or Texas. Otherwise, that school would be at the top of my target list if I were B-12 commish

I see nothing wrong with our Big East as currently constructed. Ten teams is absolutely perfect for college basketball. If you get 4 teams ranked then that is 8 games against ranked opponents in conference play alone. In rare cases where there may be only 2 ranked teams you are still getting 4 games against ranked teams. Gtown, Marquette, and our favorite team have yet to hit their stride in the new BE and the conference has done more than fine. Don't see Nova or Xavier going anywhere.
