Was there last night. There was very little bad to take from the game. As has been mentioned before, the team did what they needed to do against an inferior opponent. The simply took care of business. Having a true PG on the floor for the first time in many years is a beautiful thing. Everything flows from him. The fact that Lovett thinks pass first, but can also score big time, is going to make guarding him a very difficult task for opposing teams. Reminded me a lot of Marcus Paige as I watched him last night. As I felt in the Baruch game, Muss looks quicker and seems to have more upper body strength, a huge asset for an outside shooter. His shot seems much more effortless than it did last year. Ellison looked great I thought. I like Ahmed, but not sure he is going to be the big time scorer some think he will be. I expect he'll be a solid all around player for us. Loved Owens energy. He'll get banged around by bigger teams, but as he matured physically and otherwise, I think he'll be very productive player. Ponds will be fine. Did about what I expected. Sima looked good as well. Amar brought his usual high-energy game, although he's got to learn to read a trap and get rid of the ball before it's to late. Fruedenberg a non-factor, which was disappointing. Still like his game though and expect him to be a solid contributor as the season goes on. Not sure how Yakwe fits. As I and others have said before, having him and Sima on the court at the same time is a liability on the offensive end. Sima is a true big and should get the bulk of the minutes. Owens actually really impressed me with his court awareness/instincts, and with Lovett at the helm, court awareness is key for whoever else is on the court. It almost seems like with this re-shaped team, the offensive limitations in Yakwe's game are magnified. Anyhow I am sure the staff will find a roll for him, but from the looks of things it may not be as big a roll as we all expected. All in all, a great showing. Feeling pumped today!!!!
