BET- Georgetown, Wed. Mar. 8, 7pm, FS1/970AM

Kevin Williams analogy perfect.

Vacarro used it in the NYP today.

At 5:27 pm, I was on stubhub about to buy a ticket when my game companion took to long to respond and I wouldn't have made my train. I wasn't too upset because at the BET I am kind of superstitious that I get all worked up and am a bad luck charm - haven't seen a BET win in years live but have seen plenty of BET and NCAA losses live.

I went home instead and felt the chances for a win were better without me there.

This could be a real defining moment for the Mullin era - rough tough BE basketball and Mullin stood up to the Gtown bench kind of in the way Kevin Williams stood up to Ewing so long ago.

Too much pressure to feel like an exhilarating win. As a fan, I feel like I just went 15 rounds and they raised my arm, but I was too beat up to really enjoy it.

Lots of very good performances. Lots for our guys to be proud of, even it the season may end tomorrow.

Was at the game last night. Even the G Town guy next to me thought the G-Town push against Ali deserved a foul or a T. Original foul by Ali not even that hard, certainly not excessive.

When the fracas ended and the team went back to their end of the floor, the arm waving from the players to the crowd really ignited the crowd. I thought I was in the Garden back in the day. Magic.

Let's not find Fool's Gold. Both teams last night were extremely flawed. Our shooting, their turnovers. Defensive lapses all over the place. We have to play a much cleaner, tighter game to keep pace with Nova. But let's see if we can.

I loved the Flatlands Kid's passion, the team sure did. Keep it up Coach.

I only got to go to one game this year, I sure picked a good one.

I was very happy to see the Garden almost filled, and majority Johnny fans, lots of Red everywhere, great job fans!

Really dumb foul by AA especially seeing as he seems to commit an obvious one like that almost every game so the refs are probably looking for it. Have no problem with hard fouls but his can often be more like exactly what they are called - intentional.

But that was an obvious T on the Georgetown kid who pushed AA into the hands. Thought the refs handled the situation pretty well overall but post-foul you had 3-4 Georgetown kids in AA's face which an understandable response to a hard foul but once once of them tosses him it's a T. With the refs' ability to review don't know how they don't call that, big miss.

The Amar foul that really got me was in crunch time, when he did not deny baseline & an "and one" resulted if I recall correctly. Agree on your points re controversial one.

I have no problem with the foul. It prevented an open layup and they only made one free throw. ( Difference in the final score?). Georgetown player (pick one of the three; probably Hayes) should have gotten a T. Mullin told them a few weeks back, if they are going to foul on a layup, make sure the guy doesn't get the shot off. Amar just should have made a play on the ball as he grabbed the guy.

Refs looked at the monitor. Ali fouled no harm. Gtown pushed surrounded him. Refs should have t'd up peak

Peak got right in his face, it was Hayes who pushed him. Later on in the sideline fracas it was Hayes who was the one who made a move towards Mullin.

Georgetown made similar fouls earlier in the game, wrapping up Yakwe I think it was under the basket, with no real play on the ball and there was no tech called.

A great spin to what was a sputtering end of the year getting such a highly visible March win that is getting so much coverage. That Mullin showing so much passion is one of the bigger storylines in college hoops last night and today should help perception of program direction and doubt it hurts recruiting either.

This might not even make sense but I gained more respect for Mullin as a coach when he went after their bench last night than at any point the last 2 years. Now lets build on this

Forgot about that one! Beauty of winning. Absolutely agree, that was maddening.

Makes sense to me MJM! Some of the grumblings I've heard is that when we have efforts like last Saturday Mullin doesn't seem to get after people. Rides the refs but doesn't seem to direct a lot at our team or even the opposition. That's not his style and I don't know how he is in practice and I'm not even sure how much it matters anyway.

But sometimes it's still nice to see a moment like that where it's on public display that nobody in the building wants to win more than your coach (even if that's always the case). Wouldn't be the first time a high-profile moment like that gets blown into more than it is and has a galvanizing impact as a result. For the next however long the thing most associated with SJU hoops is probably going to be the head coach going after a rival in a tournament game. That's probably a good thing.

In 5 days we went from one of the worst performances I have seen from an SJU team recently in a mostly quiet Garden except when Providence fans were chanting to a big win and a headline story on major outlets that will probably have some legs. Great stuff.

I had not problem with AA's foul. It was not a dirty play. Mullin wanted tougher play underneath and AA did so, including better boxing out on D boards. Got to let the opposition know they can't attack the basket unmolested.

Aside from Mullin going after the entire Georgetown bench, my favorite part of that whole situation was AA standing there unphased as 4 Georgetown players surrounded and pushed him. Stood tall and grabbed the St. John's lettering on his jersey. Then he was actually the one holding his teammates back, grabbing them away from the scene to huddle on the opposite end of the floor. It all seemed very calculated on AA's part, and it really woke the building up. Say what you want about his abilities as a player, but no one can question the kid's passion and love for his teammates and his school.

What a fun game to be at. See you all Friday night :)

Fouling wasn't dumb. The way he fouled was. Alis hand were around the waste and the foul was obvious and intentional. He should just hit the arm if he wants to foul. He was then pushed by a GT player which should definitely have been called. What an exciting game. Like the old BE. Both teams played hard. GTs FTs lost the game for them.

Great gut check win. My heart was still pounding from the game on the train home. Great seeing our west coast lefty Austour,OLV72,sjuhoopnut who was sitting in 114,Moose, Kevin Barry and JerseyShoreJohnny - sorry for dropping that beer on your foot ! :). Damn what a waste of an full beer.

Good seeing you and Darren and meeting JSJ and a few of the other posters as well. Y'all missed a rollicking first half to the X/Depaul game. I got to experience it form the esteemed Sec 114 ;)

You have to love this kid;

Marvin Clark Jr.‏ @Marv_Time15

Atmosphere was electric! It's games like this that make you wanna come here and play! Nothing like it! And oh yeah, my coach is a dawg!

I don't know if this was posted, hadn't checked the last 4 pages, but seems like a good place to post it.

And that dirt bag got a technical the last time we played them. As I mentioned in that post he reminded me of the John Thompson sr. dirty teams.
