BET Game 1- Providence -Thursday, 2:30pm Fox Sports 1

I bought two tickets for the afternoon session, $100 total, including fees. 200 level, fourth row. It is not true that a SJU fan has to buy the entire tourney.

Thanks for that info. The order form I get from SJU I thought only allowed buying the entire tourney.

Yes, getting tickets through St. John's (or any of the schools) requires buying the whole thing, but MSG released tickets on a session-by-session basis a couple of weeks ago. I doubt they put up any great seats, but you can be in the building.

Last night the tickets were in the 200s but they were low down and near the corners. On Stub Hub I got tickets for 80 a piece in the 100s in a corner.

@NYPost_Brazille: Steve Lavin "hopeful" Jamal Branch and Chris Obekpa will be good to go Thursday, but no guarantees. #sjubb

I have a feeling Obekpa is gonna be a 'go,' but not sure with Branch. I believe Lavin is trying to play with Cooley's head.

Agree. Branch is a slow healer if memory serves me correctly.

I am in town this week from LA for work. Playing hooky Thursday afternoon with my brother and his friend to root on the Johnnies. Can't wait!!!

This is my plan for Friday night too if they win Thursday afternoon. Someone buy me a couple tickets from a Providence fan on the way out please. ;)

By the look of Cooley's head, someone beat Lavin to it.

I know, I know. Cruel, but you were all thinking the same thing...

It was that infamous Italian barber Al Lopecia. :)

Hopefully the seniors close their SJU days playing at MSG with a bang. Hopefully their last MSG game @ SJU is a win on Saturday night, and bring home the B.E. Tournament trophy.
REDMEN!!!!!!!!!!1

Any word on new alternate UA unis for the BE tourney?

It's usually standard procedure.

Gotta do things like that in this market.

3 years of futility.. we all know too well how difficult this tournament can be. The last time we won a single game I remember Brownlee was so excited he walked out of bounds with the ball when there was still 2 seconds left!

This is the time to turn around our Big East Tournament fortunes. Take nothing for granted and go for the jugular! PC ended our season last year in this same situation. Now its time to authoritatively sweep them and ensure our seniors go out with their heads held high under the bright lights at MSG

Spot on. Big momentum game! The games we won v PC this year we got out in front early. I saw several of their home losses where they repeated same pattern, polar opposite of what happened to SJU v PC last BE T game. Must get up on them & hang on.

Weren't we up like 21-10 last year in the BET and then choked for the rest of the game until the final five minutes? I recall us getting a good start and not stepping on their throat when we had the chance.

You could be right. I guess I am mired in memory of falling so far behind & trying to claw back. I still think since we may be in Cooley's head a bit, getting up on PC early will rattle them. Wishful thinking perhaps. Btw, after trailing Butler by good margin last week, Dunn just took over the game & nearly got PC to winner's circle. He has that type of ability. Stud!

He nearly single handedly brought them back at MSG this year! We have to get on him. Rysheed your draft stock could rise by winning this matchup. Get it done !!!

Last year's BET Providence game unfortunately epitomized the season in many ways. Close, but lack of real team identity a big deterrent in capitalizing upon opportunity. We were up 29-22 with a little over five to play in the first and had a chance to get some real separation before half. Lavin turned substitutions into revolving door, when there was no reason to sub at all the way the 5 on the floor were playing, and Providence closed the half on a 14-4 run. Valiant effort in the second half after getting down as much as 17, but too little too late.

We had the Obekpa drama, and even with that 8 guys played double-digit minutes (SDP only 10!). Good depth, but never found a way to blend it into a consistent and cohesive rotation. Also often caught in the middle in terms of who the go-to guys were (Harrison, Sampson, Jordan).

None of those problems this year, obviously. Let's go Red!
