Best dunker debate

Think about the fact that the best dunker Glass or Russell. Best shooter Mullin. Best passer Jackson as well as 2 best players Mullin/Berry all played in early to mid 80’s.

While fun to watch great dunkers do not equate to final fours
Clyde Drexler and company (Houston Phi Slam a Jama 83 & 84), Darrell Griffith aka Dr. Dunkenstein (1980 National Champs Louisville) and Vince Carter (two final fours in three years at UNC) just off the top of my head beg to differ. To add Willie Glass was a starter on St. John’s last final four team.

Darrell Griffith had at least two outstanding dunks at Alumni Hall in 1980. As deflating as it was amazing.

I think Darrell Griffith was the greatest visiting ball player to play at CA He went head to head vs Reggie Carter who was an excellent defensive player and showed off his leaping ability and shooting skills. A great player.

And it was Wiley Brown who killed us that day.

That Houston team was how White Chocolate became a college basketball fan. Oh man that team was fun to watch

I was at that game. He was a great collegiate player.

I don’t know. Plenty of good dunkers. Best is hard to say. Postell had some good ones.

However, I was in the student section when we were playing Syracuse one time so I was very close to the floor. Willie Glass came down the wing and I think it was a pass from Mark Jackson and did the “cuff” dunk. I literally heard the rim squealing over the roar of the MSG crowd. It was toward the end of a game. When he landed he let out a visceral scream and was woofing at the Syracuse team. I have to say it was vicious and I loved it.

If I remember correctly, Wiley Brown was missing a thumb. He had a prosthetic on one hand. Maybe I’m wrong.
Correct you are and there was an important game, which currently evades me, where he left his thumb in the dressing room and had to go back to get it.
