Aside from the obvious (McDermott-POY), I think Cooley gets coach of the year.
Jordan rookie of the year.
All Conference:
McDermott
Cotton
Christon
D'Angelo
Bell.
 
Cotton and McDermott are the only no brainers. I'd have to stick Smith-Rivera on the team over Harrison. They both avg about 17 but Rivera is out shooting him 45-39%. How about putting a big man on the team? Teague. Gardner, Stainbrook or Obepka? Batts? Nobody stands out

If Lavin gets this team to the NCAA's after starting 0-5, he gets strong consideration for coach of the year IMO. He's done a fantastic job of getting us back on track. Cooley's team lost s player or two and is a little thin, but make no mistake, their roster is quite talented overall. I agree with the all conference team guys but too many guards.

If Providence doesn't make it to the ncaa's, you still thk Cooley gets it? Not sure they have a sure track right now either.

no way. GTown is DSR and Starks we have more weapons.

Not a whole lot was expected of Nova this year. Probably a tournament but not Top 10 in the country and Creighton came in from a lesser conference and is on track to win the regular season.

Newcomer of the Year will probably come out of:
Tyler Harris
Devin Brooks
Sterling Gibbs
Matt Stainbrook
Rysheed Jordan
Billy Garrett Jr

Good point about Wright. I know I didn't expect them to be this good this year.

Its not Newcomer of the year. So almost all of your list is ineligible. It's just Freshman of the year so its Jordan and Garrett and pretty sure Jordan has the lead now since DePaul is spiraling.

The awards are given out the Monday and Tuesday after the regular season so conference tourney play, bids received (for bubble teams) and NCAA tourney performance are not applicable to the awards. Also only frosh on the all rookie team so Harris, Brooks, Gibbs and Stainbrook would not be eligible.
 
That's right. It's the preview magazines that do Newcomer of The Year.

Either way it's a lousy freshman class. The Marquette guys got hurt or under performed and Providence losing Brandon Austin hurt

Nah, they were calling for Lavin's head in 2000/01 after a loss to Cal State Northridge and he went on to win Pac 10 COY that year. LOL

Personally I don't think he will win it, but if he did that would be very ironic.
 
If Rysheed wins ROY, that would make three ROYs in a row at STJ.

Just imagine if Lav could actually recruit....
 
Lavin can't win Coach of the Year. This team was good enough where we shouldn't have to be in this position. We should be sitting comfortably in the tournament at this point. We are playing great now but overall this team has underachieved so far.

February Coach of the Month perhaps. :unsure:
 
And he shouldn't win Coach of the Year for putting Hooper in at the end of that Providence game. This season would look a lot different if we were 9-5 going in to these last 4 with that home loss not counting 1.4 times against our RPI.

And you can't win Coach of the Year if you're on the bubble and you account for half of DePaul's Big East wins.
