You may have missed both Julian and CMA doing thank you videos to fans who came out on Tuesday.

1200 students is a huge number at CA.

Promotions will continue the rest of the season at CA.

300 student tickets were given away for Villaniva game as part of pajama promotion.

1000 additional student tickets purchased for Villanova game.
Now that’s terrific news!

I was ticked off back in 90s when they booted us from Section 3 to create a student section which never materialized. This is a case of AD actions speaking louder than words. Good news is that although a very generous and anonymous donor ponied up $10k to support the Providence promo, it looks like we got an additional $10k+, on short notice, which is great. Anything that gets more fannies, especially student and young fans, in the arena will get my support.
For the rest of the season there will be promotions designed to keep the students coming and grow their numbers.   With college kids, food always helps.    Exiting the arena, there wasn't the usual negative comments about losing a close one.   Students appeared to have a great time and weren't downtrodden.  Older fans were disappointed at the outcome but very upbeat about the future of attendance at home games.   The school is very aware of the loyalty of our fans who continue to come out to support the team and very appreciative.

A really great way for our out of town fans to support our program is to write to Mike Cragg and make a donation within your means to help underwrite the cost of food.   The donor site may still be up, but I'm certain he would appreciate both the note and the support of promotions by our out of town guys, among our most loyal fans.

I'm really hoping that our followers on Redmen.com who are in the NYC area come out for these next two games at MSG vs. UCONN and Villanova.    Any chance of winning is increased if we can have a real home court advantage there.

This will be UConn's first game back at the Garden as part of the Big East. I'm getting that dreaded feeling that their fans will come in hoards on the metro north and totally outnumber our fans. Hope I'm wrong.
There is only one way to counteract that, right?

PS - the worst experience I ever had at MSG was when Mrs. O and I came in for a Yukonn game at MSG and ended up sitting in a section with some of their drunken fans. I had to calm her down to keep out of a fight and she said she would never go to a Yukonn game again.

One of the best MSG experiences I ever had was our win over Duke in 2018. I was one of the few SJU season ticket holders who did not sell their tickets(not judging those who did) to Duke fans, who were paying crazy money for them. So I wound up sitting amongst all Duke fans as Shamorie lit them up for 33 and we knocked them off. Anyone who's ever been to a game with me, can vouch for how demonstrative I can be.   I gotta say, most of the Duke fans took my antics very much in stride,  and were very gracious even when the game ended.

I was a season's ticket holder for around 25 years. Before that I used to buy tix for individual games. I so enjoyed going to the individual games that I was buying more and more games to the point that it just made sense to become a season's ticket holder. I used most of my tickets and only rarely gave them away when necessary. I have so many great memories from going to these games. I believe I told you guys that my wife and I got engaged center court at half time during a SJU vs Duke game at the Garden. I met a lot of great fans. Had a few beers. Talked sports with a lot of great people. In general, I had a lot of fun and made a lot of great memories.
Our culture has changed, especially in New York City. The general attitude from the students today, especially in a metropolitan city such as New York, is that there are better things to do. However, they don't know what they are missing. They could be making memories and having fun but they choose to be engaged otherwise with other societal distractions.
Maybe we could engage the student body by featuring individual student achievements at each game. Not just sports achievements but also other achievements. That way their friends would attend the games to see them honored and maybe enjoy the games.
I'm not saying that I have an answer. I'm just throwing this out there. All I know is that I have a great part of my life that contains some of the best memories that I will cherish forever thanks to St. John's basketball.
I recognize you…who is the guy on the left with the colorful shirt. Lol

Monte, I was at that game too as a season ticket holder. First, I was angry at how many Duke fans there were as I was walking into the Garden. Second, I was surprised at the season ticket holders around me who were not there and their seats were occupied by Duke fans. And yes you’re right. The Duke fans all around me took my cheering and rooting and hooting all in stride. Although I have four NYC Firemen sitting behind me and they didn’t let up harassing the Duke fans mercilessly. It was pretty funny!

If you like that story, we were at GTown with a friend of mine who is a GT alum, sitting in the Hoya Hoops Club center court seats and a female GT alum was screaming at our players and I had to take Mrs. O out to the concession stand to calm her down. To this day, she still says I should have let her kick the shit out of that C...

PS - I never got into it with opposing fans but I think I was close to being booted from a number of games because of screaming at the refs. Do you remember how many were just total DBags? Wait, what do I mean were?

OMG…that is great!

EDIT: Back in the days prior to the start of the BE, we played Georgetown at Alumni Hall. I was a good natured, but loud fan sitting in section 3 row BB (literally at half court). After heckling him and his team for much of the game, John Thompson told me to “Shut the Bleep Up”.

The Big East Tournament in 2000 when we beat UConn in the final.

The chants of "Let's Go Huskies" must have started 30 minutes before tip-off in the lobby and continued on the escalator.  Those chants went on all game long.  That UConn team had Khalid El Amin and an annoying center named Jake Voskuhl.  That was a very sweet win.

For those of you who haven't experienced it, get ready.  There's definitely a chance UConn fans will out number us.  If you can make one game this year......go to the UConn game and support SJ.

So true!

At one point, Ed Manetta (AD at the time) created the 4 game MSG packages to stop UCONN fans from doing just this.

I wasn't traveling to NYC games in those days but, being drunk as always when I was young, would probably been tossed by responding with something like "lick my sweaty ...." or most likely "GFU".

PS - Mrs. O is still ragging about it when I just mentioned the story to her. She said she should have grabbed her hair and punched her twice in the face. The crazy Catholic women, what can we do with them?

My wife just asked me why I am laughing out loud for no apparent reason!!!!

Much of the posts in Connecticut Post Game was about Attendance.

please post those comments here.

Johnnyfan this is in response to your post on the UCONN thread. While I do agree that we have more fans overall on Long
Island and Queens, the question is how many more fans who already attend games at CA and MSG, will attend games at UBS? Let's hypothetically say that we're playing well and have a game against marquee team at MSG. Let's say we draw 15k to MSG. Now, move that same game to UBS and I'd say we'd loose at least 5k who would have gone to MSG, between impartial fans, diehard fans (like me) who live in Manhattan, and opposing team fans. Do you really think we can make up those additional 5k fans at UBS?  I don't. I'd say maybe 2K.

Right now based on our attendance numbers from our fans alone it doesn't warrant playing at either MSG nor UBS.   If we only allocated 200 tickets to away teams, how many games would we sell out right now if we put all of our games at CA?    Based on revenue alone from our own ticket sales, it's hard to justify playing those teams anywhere right now.

Since we really don't know how UBS would work out, why don't we give it a shot with games that wouldn't project to be a big draw at MSG.  Start with renewing our rivalry with Hofstra and maybe the Butler game. The train station connection to Manhattan should be finished and see how a weekend game draws.

Games played at MSG are a necessity, a cost of doing business and being St. John’s.
