As a St. John's fan, I would be good with this hire over some of the other names that have been mentioned and those that will emerge,

One thing that would "scare" me about Ewing would be what I would imagine his ability to recruit bigs would be. Many local bigs we seem to be in with locally over next few years including Moses Brown, Cofi Cockburn and Aiden Igiehon.

Right. I really have no idea of Ewing can coach. But, I can imagine that he would have a lot to offer young big men. By the end of his NBA career he was a technician in the post.

If the fight's in May or June I'd definitely take Mullin. Ewing was always softer that time of year.

I think he will do a great job there.

Not going to come in as raw as Mullin did, and should have a roster next year, that's similar to what we had this year. So, he's at a better starting place.

If he does well over 4 or 5 years, I expect him to jump ship to the NBA, but even that will probably be good for the program, provided they get a competent replacement.
