Around the Big East

This just more pressure on this league to perform in March when it counts.

Yeah, but it's better than the alternative (no pressure and no highly ranked teams).

Xavier made the Sweet 16 last year. If both were 1 or 2 seeds X wouldn't be feeling the heat like Nova would.

Once again the pressure is on Nova basically. I can see Xavier, Providence, and Butler all having nice showings. Xavier and Butler both showed up very well last year, providence will have the best player on the floor every tournament game.

It's nova that needs to not choke. If they could go on a deep run it would be outstanding

Tourney results aside, I envy the level of the program, with reloading, not rebuilding a staple.

No doubt. I'd take what they have in a heartbeat. But there is much pressure on them this year to step up when it counts. I just hope they do it. It'll raise the respect for the conference which will only help us in terms of recruiting/perception

Yep. Nova has been consistently in or near the top 10 for 3 straight years now. I'm pretty sure they've maintained a higher floor ranking than Duke or Kentucky during that time (Duke is #20 now and just lost again). Lowest I remember Nova was #17.

They're really becoming an elite program during the regular season.

Villanova has mastered the Big East regular season, just need to make a run to the Sweet 16 or higher this year. I do see them dropping in the national rankings next year though. Prob still be an NCAA team but not a top 25 team.

I think they'll be very good (once again).

Omari Spellman, 5 star recruit, comes in.
Josh Hart is their best player right now and he's only a junior.
Brunson isn't looking like a one and done although he is playing well.
Kris Jenkins and Daryl Reynolds both return as seniors
Mikal Bridges has played well this year and will only be better next year
Lastly, don't forget, they got Fordhams star, Eric Paschall, and he will be ready to go next year

Don't forget Booth. Coaching staff really likes him, will get much more PT next year.

Had to make a holy land account just to post that the thread should be locked. It did get locked. Embarrassing showing from sju and nova fans in that thread

DePaul wins at Marquette.

SH loses close one at home to Nova. Arcidiannoying makes crafty play to score at crunch time. Kid gets on my nerves with his flopping, but he is a kid you like when he is on your team. Give me a solid college player like him for four days over guys who leave early & don't do squat in NBA.

Respect Nova greatly, but when they lose Ochefu they are vulnerable. SH got him in foul trouble & almost stole one.

with DePaul's win Johnnie's firmly in last place "oh the pain" apologies to Joe Benigno

As for Archduke he definitely is a pain for other teams. I remember being at the Pavilion for his freshmen game against St.John's and he matched DLo, both with 30 point games. This was a brutal loss snatched from victory when Amir was late to a spot and foolishly fouled Hilliard on a missed three resulting in a 4 point play which tied the game late. Led to OT loss. Meanwhile Archy just keeps playing and winning games.

Fwiw I was at that game too, and Dlo had 36, Arch had like 20 I think. Also, that "foul" on Amir Garret was complete BS and we would've won if the refs didn't bail out Nova on that call.

A second half Tech on Branch for "throwing" Arch to the floor was not much of a help either.
