Around the Big East

Took a quick look at the teams in the BE and who they played so far, bunch of wins but nothing too impressive in terms of beating a "good team". I guess Xavier beating Tennessee is the best win for the conference so far?

Is anyone by any chance watching this New Mexico UAB game? New Mexico hit like a 2/3 court buzzer beater to send it into overtime. Then they hit a here with two seconds left to send it into a second overtime. ESPNU ot2 right now.

And the announcers showed no excitement. They barely spoke about what happened.

bad loss by Gtown.

Terrible loss.

They still have games remaining with Kansas and Michigan State. You can't sort of hide a loss like this. Brutal.

The Big East may be more balanced top-to-bottom when it's all said and done than what I initially thought it would be.

I guess Thompson can;t coach. Did he play zone or man or did his players shoot tweeners? Should have put up threes or at least dunked it. LOL

Let's face it though, except for select tournaments, there haven't been tons of big OOC matchups for any conference. Bigger matchups will start happening soon enough. Beginning of the season is the "cupcake" slate for most teams in power conferences. I just want to keep beating the teams we should beat. Right now I'm ok with one loss to a top 11 team.

Marquette barely beat New Hampshire.
The new Big East is doomed.

Marquette will not be the team the conference can hang its hat on this year. Creighton and especially Nova will have to be. We really need to step up and pick up the slack for the conference to give it a third dynamic team. I'm not sure Gtown has that kid of ceiling.

The good news is that the new guys are a combined 10-0 and have given the conference arguably its biggest wins (Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and St. Joe's).
Xavier looks like a tournament team thus far.

Fixed it for you

Butler beating Vandy, even though it was a Hinkle, is pretty impressive..Any win over any major conference opponent is good news. G'town losing to Northeastern is bad, the Hoyas beating K State is good..

Our losing to number 12 Wisconsin isn't bad but, it could have been a major victory over a ranked team. Losing to Bucknell would have been bad.. and, so on.

Our loss to Wisconsin is not bad, after looking at how good they've been. Bucknell is going to beat a lot of teams and likely win their conference, so it was a better win than might seem on paper.

Wisconsin will be top ten in the next poll. That game will be an RPI booster for months to come.

Agree, we just need to take care of the teams we should take care of now on our path to the Cuse game.

GTown blew out K St today somewhat making up for yesterday

An aside on this, Omari had a brutal game. He's finally averaging double digit minutes as a Senior but it looks like this was his worst outing so far.

Providence was down 16 but came back to beat Vanderbilt. Seton Hall up on Oklahoma but lost Pstrick Auda to a foot injury

Hall with a tough loss, in the last few moments. They look a lot better than advertised. Villanova with a close win at home against Delaware.
Providence with the win against Vandy. Uconn beats Indiana. Still like loses by Big Ten teams.

Watching the Creighton - Tulsa game on MSG, man that is one nice arena and they really can pack the house.
