Around the Big East

One thing about LMF in real life is that I am a no BS guy. If you ask me a question, you're gonna get an answer. You may not like the answer, but it's going to be a legit answer. And if I say something when you're not there, you can be absolutely certain that I would say the same thing to your face. I am a believer in being real with folks.

So if I'm Willard, I am telling my team something along these lines:

Listen, you all know what the landscape is. Right now we are all part of the same team and we are all committed to the same goal. And that's who we are going to be and what we are going to do until they make us put away the balls for the season.

I know that some of you may already have ideas about what you want to do after that. You may want to test the pro waters, you may want to go someplace else where you think the grass will be greener for you either on the court or in your pocket, or you may want to stay here. I get that. But I trust you to be 100% part of this team and be 100% committed to our team goals from now until our season is over. You owe to that yourselves, your teammates, your coaches, the school and the fans, who are your fellow students.

I'm in the same boat as you. You all know I have some issues with the administration about the resources they put into this program. I want the best and the most resources for our program because it gives you, me, the school and our fans the best chance to succeed. I don't know if that's going to get worked out or not. If it does then I will be back here next year. If it doesn't then I will be someplace else next year. But from now until we put the balls away I am all in for this ride with you the same as you're all in it with me.

[If he's already made his call then he'd have to edit the end to say that he and the admin don't see eye to eye on resources so he's probably going to be somewhere else next year, of course.]

I don't know how Maryland fans would take that, but as long as he's up front about it I have no problem. It's business as usual these days.

Now, if he isn't up front about it and hangs his team out to dry, that I have an issue with.
And the one other thing about LMF in real life, is once asked a question, you are a big proponent of clear and concise responses.

does he really win, though?

I mean sure he "wins" but idk I personally hoped a job like Villanova could attract someone better than a guy with 3 tournament wins in 18 years. But the market just doesn't seem that great this year
In fairness he has won three NCAA games in his three years at Maryland and I feel the team is going to play well tonight.

I think Terp fans will land on their feet because Tony Skinn went out and proved he could run a program, and he'll be in place at Maryland 24 hours after Willard leaves them.

But there's no way Willard is giving his team 100 percent focus right now and that is a bad situation.

Does Willard do this to Nova in future if Louisville opens?

I think the issue is Willard wants a school where basketball is king from a resource standpoint and he will never get that at a P4 school. So I think the answer is no. But who knows?
