Around the Big East

Just going by overall stat lines, it's close, possibly with an edge to Champ...

Champ: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/julian-champagnie-1.html]Julian Champagnie College Stats | College Basketball at Sports-Reference.com
Mamu: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/sandro-mamukelashvili-1.html]Sandro Mamukelashvili College Stats | College Basketball at Sports-Reference.com

Overall, I can see why Mamu won, but there were games where he was lost for long stretches.  I thought he was going to have a bigger year than he did.

Give edge to the Sr. I guess

Marquette’s DJCarton leaving program to pursue professional basketball career, entering NBA Draft and hiring agent.

Ouch

Yeah......thought Carton was on the cusp of being one of the top players in the league.  Very talented, but sometimes disappeared in games.

Well guess that tells it all

Staff seems to be working very hard.  I have a good feeling we will get a quality guard. Not sure it will be a stud like Alvarado, but I think it will be somebody who will help us.

If NBA teams value inconsistency he's a sure-fire first rounder.

Kinda odd he's willing to settle for overseas when he's still just a sophomore and could have improved his stock by coming back.  He's for sure an overseas guy right now, I don't even think he's in the G-League/2-way contract range.

Yeah that is a bit of a hit.  They have a top 100 PG signed in Stevie Mitchell.  So he probably will the get the ball on day one.

Maybe he wanted to transfer again but realized that he used a waiver already and was uncertain if under the new rules he would get another.

Carton was generally listed at 6'1" or 6'2", but always looked a lot smaller.  Very athletic, but I can't see him at G-League/NBA at all right now.

Good luck to him.

Shaka Smart is going to have a long road ahead.

Have you looked at their roster?  Even without Carton what has coming back and what he has coming in is pretty good.  You are acting like he is taking over Rutgers 5 years ago.

Are you counting Garcia?

I don't see Carton playing in NBA or G-League, particularly where Shamorie got barely more than a sniff.

Yes for now. But they have a lot of depth up front as well even without him.  With him I think they can be an NCAA team without him probably next tier down.
