Around the Big East

Completely disagree. Understanding the context, he's an excellent hoops writer. NJ version of Braziller although I happen to think Carino is superior
Braziller has been far more critical of past SJU coaches/regimes than Carino is of Holloway. I live not far from South Orange and read his stuff. He writes some good human interest stories. But he gives Sha a total pass, which I get because he needs access. Still very much state-run media IMO. Good NIL or not, NIL isn't the reason you lose multiple games at home or neutral sites to mid-majors, get beat by 30 by Butler on your home court, and on and on.

UConn dropped only 4 spots with that loss as Q3. They are 35 in net and Kenpom. I would have thought it would have been more impactful of a loss.

Not a big fan of the NET rankings. Not only were we top 30, but also advanced to the BE semis.

Did absolutely nothing for us last year. I understand a few sleepers squeaked their way into the field - NC State, and some AQ conferences - but we (and the BE) got jobbed.

I thought so also. Even though Seton Hall is a sub 200 NET team, I guess the game was very close, on the road and enough games have been played that smaller changes occur. UCONN has a much better resume than we did last season. They would have to play their way out of the tournament.

Don’t get me started on the NET lol. It’s a tool the committee thinks enough of to use it to rank teams in terms of quality of wins but it’s not good enough to be used to rank teams for the bracket? It’s bizarre. Luckily won’t matter for this year but it’s still as clear as mud.

Resume metrics aren’t great for them. Squarely a 8/9/10 seed.

KPI dropped them to 44. Worst loss by a far margin.

Torvik’s WAB (wins above bubble) is also 43.

BPI strength of record is 37

Keep blowing games and they’ll be SOL. One and done a strong possibility.

After scorching us, Nova shot 5-19 from deep against Prov for 26%. Started out 1-12, effectively ending their chances.

Perkins who hit the shot to beat us played 30 minutes with no points.

I fuggin’ hate Villanova.

Perkins with no points . Must be why RJ didn’t cover him well on his game winning shot

Figures . Our win streak broken by a non contributor .

If we won the game at Nova , and today at the Garden we could have challenged being on the top 5 rankings . Not top 16 like our Early NCAA ranking and 4 th seed in the East .

Hall beat Uconn, at Prudential, last year, too, although UConn's big guy was hurt.
