Around the Big East

Speaking of.

I was told they were back…………

I expected better. But they've had us, Nova and the Hall on the road and UConn, Marquette Providence and X at home. The only games they haven't been competitive in were at us and at Nova (which was a horrendous loss). Only game I would have expected them to win in there was at the Hall, and maybe steal a win from Providence or X at home. I still think they can find 5 wins in the league, perhaps.

Will obviously take time, but I believe DEPaul has the right guy to build a program v randomly grabbing “names” & some “team last” types and never achieving collective success.

I’m a big McDermott fan and he is doing another nice job at Creighton. Glad to see CU stomped PC last night. Kim English’s comment about SJU only doing a “few things” well after we beat them up there was ill advised. Perhaps he should look at his own squad not doing “a lot of things” very well currently.

English's prior stop, George Mason, actually has a better NET (83) right now than Providence (88). Definitely plenty to work on internally there rather than passively commenting on our flaws.

Looking at Marquette's near loss to DePaul last night, they were pounded on the boards again, -15 on the evening.

I really do think they have a weakness there that we can exploit. I am starting to get really pumped for that first matchup with them at MSG. I am sensing a big Zuby game
Should be a great matchup. M’Q rebounds well collectively, is manic about deflecting, disrupting & generating easy buckets much like SJ. Obviously they are an excellent guard oriented group that lacks a bulky big, All in all, I give them the edge in the “college ball is a guards game” theory, but Rick gets the edge over Shaka on sidelines imo. I see no reason why we can’t hold serve w them at raucous MSG while the situation likely reverses itself at their place. I love these kinds of matchups.

We've also taken some brutal losses to Marquette the past couple of years. There was that BET game where we lost in overtime (that game I call "Posh's Last Stand" ;)), both games against them last year we came out and had a great first half and then squandered the leads. We haven't beaten Marquette since Shaka took the job and just feels like we are beyond due

This year at packed MSG, “barbecue chicken” aint walking through that door again.
