Agree, but tough task to beat Creighton at their place. Doable? Of course.
Understood Paultzy, the reason why I am optimistic is because Ashworth facilitates all their offense and I think we have such an advantage there. If Deivon can take Ashworth out of his game it really hinders what they can do offensively with the team they have this year.

Pure conjecture from me, but I think Pitino has a good feel against McDermott and his teams.

We came soclose to beating them last year, and our team was not nearly as athletic or skilled as this year & their team was much better. Their style of play and Kalk never really phased us. We just beat ourselves.
And also, it’s in the past now, but they needed some extremely friendly non-whistles and whistles in the last ten seconds to get their win.

Ashworth is one of the best pgs in the big east. Hes averaging 17 a game and dropped 20 today vs Nova.

This year alone hes dropped 17 vs kansas and 20 vs alabama.

I love Smith but this is crazy talk to say that we have some kind of advantage here.

Yes. I just dont spew ridiculous st johns homer takes w/ every post.
Ok well I will help you out: Ashworth is a short, limited, chucker who is a product of the system he plays in. Smith, while short, is still 3 inches taller than Ashworth and has actual basketball ability. Also insane athleticism. I'm not sure I can think of a coach - including McDermott - who would prefer Ashworth to Smith

He is not nearly as bad as the board makes him out to be. Chucker? Hes tsking 11 shots a game.

17 points
6.5 assists
40% 3 pt shooting
50/51 on the season from the line

Let's play this game then.

Jhamir Brickus scored 16 against Ashworth today. He averages 11.
Mark Sears scored 27 against Ashworth in their match-up. Sears is a star, but only averages 18.

The guy is a turnstile on defense. Smith is much much more athletic and I suspect will speed him up on offense.

The key would be not fouling him. He did not play efficiently against Sears at all (5-13, 2-8), but did go 8-8 from FT. He was not efficient against KU at all either (5-14, 3-9), but went 4-4 from FT. Against Texas A&M, 4-11 from FG.

Yes, kansas and alabama dont have athletes better than Ashworth.

Bunch of scrubs on those squads.

Yeah but what’s that make brickus defensively?

We did just see Bensley Joseph score 17 on efficient shooting vs us.

Its just a lazy take. Because ashworth is short, white and not a great athlete, hes going to get dominated by Smith cause hes a better athlete.

It doesnt work that way. As you can see by Ashworth dropping 17 and 20 vs kansas and alabama.

Hey, I only caught the second half of the Prov game. lol.

Ashworth isn't a bad player. We can certainly come out with lackluster effort, and he can light us up from three. And/or, we make silly fouls & give him easy points. I just don't see him as a guy who should be able to make a big impact if we're playing with intensity on the defensive end. He isn't a great dribbler and it'll be tough for him to create separation.
