Around the Big East

I don’t think Seton Hall is THAT bad. I know the metrics are absolutely crazy early but there is no way they are as bad as the metrics say and can really move up with some wins in December.
3 of their first 4 Big East games are against Georgetown, Depaul, and Villanova. 2 of those are at home.

Don't be surprised if they get off to a good start.

Great Q1 win for Uconn tonight. Hurley put on a coaching clinic and got it done w/o karaban, his leader and best player.

Hurley is about 2 or 3 games away from figuring his team out and then they will steamroll the country on the way to their 3rd straight natty.
And you guys were giving me crap last year for posting a coupla benign positive posts about Pitt? This Mullins guy is off the hook outta control.

Incredibly important for teams like Nova and Providence to beat some quality OOC teams and prove themselves before they inevitably beat some quality BE teams in league play.
Ditto Creighton and UConn. Even with better reputations they still were at risk of only picking up big BE wins. Xavier at TCU tonight, their turn.

Yeah, should have said that and noted getting foreign player eligible will help give guys a blow and add another scorer. The top Creighton guys put in mega minutes last night. McD to me is best HC in BE offensively and man are they great at home.
Creighton this year is a bit like UConn the last two years. You can either deal with Kalk or you can't. If you can deal with Kalk and you have the players to match up with the guards, then you're OK because at the moment their other pieces are not impressive. But if you can't deal with Kalk and you have to send help then they will make you pay. With that jerk Hunter Dickinson pulling a no show last night it was the latter movie for Kansas - Pop Isaacs being unconscious didn't hurt either.

I completely agree with you about McDermott, who was my second-favorite coach in the league when GQ Jay was around and my favorite since then, but this is not a classic Creighton squad.

Their backcourt combined for 47 15 and 10. I disagree with the kalkbrenner and nothing else opinion. Neal has been more than solid and is a quality athlete on the wing. Mcandrew is going to be the next creighton big white guy to piss us off for multiple years.

Agree on McAndrew. Much better than Miller, and only a freshman.

I agree - that's why I said "at the moment." They just aren't there yet. For years McDermott has had 5 pieces on the floor and a short bench. Now he has 3 pieces and some works in progress, plus Isaac is not a natural fit (IMO) so it makes it more challenging for him.

I don't know if this was already posted but I watched the last 10 minutes of the Baylor/UConn game and I think we can beat the Huskies at least once if not twice this year. They did not look all that impressive. I know they won by four at Gampel but the last two points came on foul shots with .4 seconds left in the game. I'm also aware Karaban didn't play but this game was played on UConn's home court, VJ didn't play, Roach only played 23 minutes due to an injury and Celestine fouled out scoring zero points. Finally, UConn's backcourt is nowhere near as talented as last year's backcourt. Here's hoping.
