I've seen him in interviews when it's not game day and I agree, he's funny and personable, but come game day and he morphs into this ranting lunatic. Just because he's a great guy off court doesn't excuse his on court behavior.I have posted before I have known Danny since his Hall days, like him and will attest that he is nothing in “real life” like his court demeanor. Having said that, I agree 100% that I don’t think any tech pointed his way is a bad call, the refs just called the wrong one.
Reading Section 9’s post, I was reminded of a part of an hour+ interview of Pee Wee Kirkland available on YouTube. For those who don’t know the name, a VERY legit NY playground legend who also made boatloads of money on the streets.
He eventually did time on what was later pretty much to be shown as trumped up charges, part of a case in Boston involving multiple defendants, all or most of whom were not “street people”.
Anyway, and the interview was years after the fact, Kirkland had done his time and subsequently had done a lot of really good work with youngsters.
Anyway in the interview he shares that he was set up but (paraphrasing) “I was guilty of a lot” so he accepted what happened, did his time, changed his life. Absolutely fascinating, interesting, intelligent man.
And the fact that the Memphis players, especially the guards, physically abused his precious huskies didn't help.
