Around the Big East

i was thinking just as of tonight - all 3 would be 10-9, SJU is 2-0 vs Nova and 1-1 v Providence so 3-1 in the group; Nova obviously has 2 losses in the group, so it depends on how Providence and Nova did vs one another - if Providence is 2-2 then we would be 5, they would be 6 and Nova 7. Assuming it's based on w-l record among the tied teams, anyway
yes for tonight it Seton hall holds on it would be:

Can someone confirm:

If seton hall wins tonight, we lock up the 5 seed w a win vs georgetown?
If Villanova loses tonight and loses against Creighton on Saturday AND Providence beats UConn, then we would be tied with Providence but they would have tiebreaker against us in that scenario so we would be sixth.

Cool, that's what I thought.

EDIT
So then we need to win the next game and hope that:

(a) Villanova wins their last game and Providence loses theirs (because we have the tiebreaker over Nova) or
(b) Villanova and Providence both win their next game (because we have the best record in that group of 3) ; or
(c) Nova and Providence both lose their next game (sole possession of 5th).

Any of those would lock us into 5th.

As per RedStorm 21, if Nova loses their next game and we and Providence both win, we finish 6th because Providence has the tiebreaker over us

Hall officially locked up their bid, although I think they could have lost this beat ePaul and lost to whomever in the BET and still be in. I think it’s going to be real hard to make a case for Nova especially with Providence and us on the bubble.

Take care of business v GT and finish fifth, not exactly how I thought they would get there lol

Yeah, for two team tie, the Big East tie-breaker is:
  1. Regular season head-to-head results. If the tied teams split their two games or did not play, then proceed to Step 2. If the teams play once, that still satisfies the series. In the event that the teams play more than twice, and those games are considered conference games, all games will be considered.
  2. Each team’s winning percentage vs. the team or tied (group of) teams occupying the highest position in the standings. Only common opponents will be considered. If an advantage is not determined, proceed to the next team or group of tied teams in the standings for comparison. Continue down through the standings until one team gains an advantage
Since we split our series with Providence, step two would be each team's record against UConn, in which case Providence would have the edge in this hypothetical.

tonight hurts the Nova factor we have been riding with there NET and Q1 wins etc but it helped ALOT with the path the 5 Seed.......Just something to monitor...If Marq goes 0-2 / Creighton beats Nova and Seton Hall Beats depaul....Seton Hall gets the 3 seed instead of the 4
