Around the Big East

I do not think you are in the minority. It is probably split because many feel the same as you.

My issue is UConn needed the BE more than the other way round, but yet still would bolt the conference to chase major football dreams.

UConn acted like Horshack raising his hand when he wanted to get picked to answer a question (only they were more embarrassing and far less funny). Only instead of Mr. Kotter, the teacher was the Big 12.
Agreed and love that analogy.

Also the new buyout is way too low. They will pay almost anything to get to a football conference and BE did not get enough.

Honestly I would be shocked if UConn left the Big East. Syracuse has a much better football program than Conn, but even their fans are on twitter begging for an invite back to the Big East.

Uconn football is embarrassingly bad, their days of chasing football money should be behind them if they are smart.

Success breeds success. Sad to say, he waited for an opportunity like UCONN to become available and he chose the program with more recent championships than anyone. When fans say could've should've would've, the answer in most likely no.

The guy is very very good, not to mention his pedigree, a dad who ranks among the very best hs coaches ever.

Watching him rant on the sideline, I do think he might be Boeheim's illegitimate son.
UConn may have given him the job but Val Ackerman gave him the opportunity he has now. Prior to inclusion back in the Big East, UConn was nothing. But putting a state school with unlimited resources back in a conference with all private schools was a bone headed move by Val and put the rest of the conference at a glaring disadvantage.

Let's see what the next TV contract is. UCONN is a huge selling point to the networks. If we didn't have them, I think we would be at a huge disadvantage on going back to Fox.

Pay attention my “FT clanging Johnnies”

Yup, with the exception of Providence all the teams that we are fighting for positions 4 - 6 in league play (Hall, Butler, Xavier, Nova) shoot free throws significantly better than us (PC slightly worse). It's one thing to be short and not athletic or laterally quick but free throws are just practice and concentration which we clearly can and must get better at.

Bingo!

We could not agree more. UConn was an afterthought in the AAC. They won the national title in their first year there with a roster from players recruited while in the Big East.

In the other six years, UConn made the NCAA’s once while losing in the second round. This included the last two non-tournament appearances in the AAC with Hurley as coach in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons.

Their fans, who are lauded for their passion and great following - but are really nothing more than loathsome, front running bullies - were no shows. UConn played home games in front of half empty arenas.

Val Ackerman should get free housing an honorary doctorate from UConn for saving them from permanent obscurity.
Well we’ve been in the BE for 44 years and how many championships have we won? In more than half those years we basically stunk.

I think only 3 Tourney Championships, ‘83-‘86-2000. Regular season champs 5x but of that 4x we were co or tri champions. The only sole time was 84-85 season.
UCONN has won 5 National Championships since the 90’s we have never won a natty that is what I was referring to as that is what was being discussed. Thank you though for your accurate information 😉😊

SJU has been miserable by its own doing. You will never get an argument from me.

But this was about UConn needing the BE to help resuscitate its program and fans. During their time in the AAC, I do not remember clamoring to add them to the out of conference schedule.
