Around the Big East

Not impressed with Nova & X.
Nova did beat N Carolina when Moore played. They potentially have the conferences best back court and Dixon always gave Soriano fits. For the Johnnie’s to beat them in Philly, it will take a near perfect game and a healthy Luis. Even the Garden game will be a challenge.

And let me ask you all this, outside of the Utah and Holy Cross (and they were pretty weak) games, in what other game have the Johnnie’s played well? At this point, and as Coach has echoed, I don’t believe we’re are ready for conference play. So before we start counting out other teams, let’s see how the Johnnies do in Big East battles.

Shaping up to be a really bad night for the Big East. Hopefully UConn holds on

Fair to say SJU has not played very well. I also thought less than athletic Utah was tailor made for Johnnies. That said, if they can keep Luis on the floor they will compete in BE. It looks like tier one is UConn, Creighton & M’Q & dog fight in BE after that.

Haven't seen enough of V, but agree X is nothing special. Neither is butler or seton hall. I think PC might have something special, even after tonight's drubbing at Oklahoma.

Im surprised that Xavier isnt better in year 2 of sean miller. I think hes one of the best coaches in the country.

Butler has come alive in year 2 of matta. Another excellent coach.

BTW-If UCONN shoots like this AND they get Castle back, who the hell can beat them? Not just in the BE but anywhere?

Worth noting again, SJU's old administration felt that Mullin was a better hire then Danny Hurley. Just remember that.
I do remember that and it was sickening. Mullin was a disaster from the get go but why open more wounds? UConn was nothing in the AAC and the Big East gave them life. Just to watch that smug SOB Hurley is sickening as well.

So the Johnnies better have a healthy Luis and have stepped up their game when Yukon comes to the Garden or the loss to Michigan won’t be our worst.

SJU should be better all around, as good as UCONN? No. But they should be coming together by then.

But the atmosphere for that game at the Garden will be why you needed to hire Rick Pitino. It will be a lot of fun.

Could be worse...Jay Wright...

Should be 6-4 with an asterisk on georgetown, still not good but would look more respectable.

I know I fall into the Optimist bucket on this site... but i see this as a good thing no?

The fact that we have maybe played... what... 2 full games - of "Good" basketball... and are still 5-2? We had "Good halves" vs Mich and Dayton... (that Mich lost is looking worse by the day now... cmon Mich...)

Always thought that this team needed 10 games to start clicking... sucks that Luis won't be part of that clicking... but with SH/BC/Fordham before our X game... think we'll be shaping up nicely.

Also- like that Rick got Sim and Dunlap meaningful minutes in a tough road environment at WVU- that will pay dividends.

I am sure Pitino would love a redo on that michigan game. To better prepare and also we clearly got michigan clicking that day. They have not come close to playing the game they played against us vs any other team. We probably beat them 7-8/10 times. Unfortunately we caught one of the losses out of 10 that day.
