Around the Big East

Wow that's surprising, but helps put into perspective how strong attendance was for our Michigan game given that was also on a Monday night (which I see people using as an excuse for this Empire Classic). Plus, this was four teams- one from the Big East, Big Ten, ACC, and Big 12 (soon SEC). I'm optimistic we can make MSG a true home this year.

I do wonder how many UConn grads are in the city, because I feel like I bump into people wearing UConn gear quite frequently. Feels like there are a decent amount and of course they travel well by Metro North. By contrast I rarely ever see anyone wearing St Johns gear here in Manhattan.

Lots of Johnnies alumni in the city, most of them just lack school spirit. If we achieve even a fraction of UConn's success then we'll absolutely see a lot more Johnnies gear.

Well, the City hasn’t been this dangerous, polluted, and smelly since the late 1980’s, so to answer your question: a lot of them.

In many cases when a coach gets gently pushed out of one high major job so he can take another job that is not perceived to be on the same level it won't always end up well for a coach.

But at least right now Shaka Smart landing in Milwaukee after leaving Austin looks like a tremendous move by him. He is flourishing at Marquette.

I
Great performance by Marquette. So quick all over the court. Going to be a battle with UConn for the league title.

Requiem for the Big East looks dumber and dumber every year.
Marquette , dominant over #1 Kansas , could be new #1 with a win over #2 Purdue. I think they are a better team after watching both tonight . Igodara and Koke dominant!

I grew up with Mullin. Had his warriors poster on my wall as a teenager. Can forgive him for sitting on the scorers table. But really have a hard time getting past him participating in that 30 for 30 on ESPN about the demise of the big east.

As an aside, I’m kind of happy that Nova fans don’t have to worry about carrying the conference anymore. They were getting insufferable here in PA.

Very true. Marquette and Shaka are a perfect match. He can recruit those players that are Big East caliber but still have a chip on their shoulder.

UConn v. Indiana drew 20K on Sunday afternoon. 😉
