Around the Big East

Creighton has been a few breaks away from being at least a Sweet 16 if not an Elite 8 team the last few yrs it seems. Really bad luck.

Jeff Goodman;

Creighton freshman Modestas Kancleris will miss the season after tearing his ACL during practice on Wednesday. Kancleris is the second Bluejay this week to suffer a season-ending knee injury, as fellow frosh Rati Andronikashvili tore the ACL in his left knee last Sunday.
Right or wrong, the strength coach & trainers may need to make quick adjustments or start getting their resumes cleaned up.
Has more to do with the fact that these two kids are freshman that are not yet strong enough to handle the intensity of these practices
agree but SC team is responsible for getting them stronger leading up to practices. Not saying it's right, but the SC guys often take the hit vs. the coaches when it comes to repeat or batched injuries.

In a video message, athletic director Bruce Rasmussen says Creighton faces a potential $12 million loss without MBB ticket sales/donations. Almost half the department's annual budget

Of course, the coaches are never at fault :)

On the other hand, the limited time that these kids have been on campus is not nearly enough to be physically ready. It takes years to be there.

Interestingly enough, at Seton Hall Ngandu hasn’t been cleared yet and both the oft-injured Bryce Aiken, and Molson are still out with injuries. Concerns there that they can only go 7-8 deep. Big East really thinks they’ll finish that high because of Mamu? I don’t think they’ll be able to sustain against teams that are deep and athletic, especially without a Powell.

Double uh-oh from Jerry Carino:
Statement: The Seton Hall men's basketball team has paused all team activities due to positive COVID-19 test results among the program's "Tier 1" personnel, which consists of student-athletes, coaches, staff and managers.

Since the pause began on Monday, if Seton Hall follows the NCAA 14-day quarantine guideline, it would be able to return to practice on Nov. 23 -- two days before the scheduled opener. #shbb

It is going to be tough to navigate the season w covid. And as they say in the Game of Thrones “ winter is coming” and the cases may increase. A bubble may be the best option.

The quarantine time is nonsensical to me in the age of rapid testing. Wait a few days, test the team, get back to practice if all negative. I don’t understand the quarantine unless positive and symptomatic. Isolate the positive persons for quarantine, not the whole team.

Stop, you're making too much sense!

Reliability of rapid test is much lower. Asymptomatic transmission is real. Whose family member are you willing to sacrifice in the name of expediency?

Why do you have to be so nasty?
