Around the Big East

The Big East has 5 of the Top 20 recruiting classes for 2021 per @247Sports:

#2 Villanova
#4 DePaul
#7 UConn
#14 Georgetown
#18 Seton Hall

John Fanta
Gives us an idea of how tough it will be to move into the top half of the big east. Congrats to DePaul btw
"Rankings don't mean anything" :)
. That may be true but , if we were Ranked would we feel similar ? And , even if it doesn’t mean anything , it’s better to be mentioned than not . To have your Recruiting Class ranked you need to have several Top 100 kids and maybe 1 or 2 top 50 . We have not had that level of Impact Players since Lavin’s first Class . We need to attract more than 1 4-5 star player to get to the first Division of the BE or , get the Grad transfer who can elevate your team , even for 1 year . A Player who can start or , come off the Bench and make a Impact . I’m not sure Coach A ‘s style is attractive to that type Player for 1 season . He’s Classic in the sense that he Coach’s his Players in his philosophy and it’s worked for him to be a Winner . As to whether that translates into becoming a BE contender remains to be seen . I think many fans would be happy to get to the top 5 of the BE and go from there into becoming a Contender . Patience is usually not a fan virtue . Ours has been tested for 20 plus years .

Source: “Strong possibility” Seton Hall will be in Wooden Legacy Classic in the Orlando bubble. Includes UCLA and Kansas. Belief is #shbb would not have to quarantine for two weeks upon return, I’m told.

Seton Hall already has games set at home against Baylor and at Rhode Island. Really strong schedule coming together again for Kevin Willard. #shbb
Wonder what makes them special and not having to quarantine upon return
Ask Zaun.

New Jersey state laws vs. New York state laws, would be my guess.

It's not the case. And to boot, Last night I was speaking to a NYC team employee about an athlete that plays for a NY team that lives in NJ and all 3 states are operating by the same rules I was told.

Same basic rules, but we've seen businesses reopen at different times in the state.

Maybe New Jersey is giving passes to college students, that New York is not.

And Baylor or RI wouldn't have to quarantine coming from out of state?

So many rules, there are no rules

Nice opportunity per John Fanta

Providence will face Indiana in the first round of the Maui Invitational. Friars will draw Texas or Davidson in their following game. North Carolina/UNLV, Stanford/Alabama are on the other side of the bracket. Tournament will be in Asheville, NC from Nov 30 - Dec 2. #PCBB

Fanta’s Big East Notebook;

St. John’s

Are the Johnnies back? It’s still too early to tell, but that’s not stopping St. John’s fans from asking the question. Why? A foundation has been set by a proven winner, head coach Mike Anderson. The Red Storm notched signature non-conference wins a year ago over West Virginia and Arizona. They finished the season with momentum, highlighted by a home win over Creighton. But, top scorer LJ Figueroa is gone. That’s the biggest question entering 2020-21: Who fills that gap? The Johnnies have emerging weapons like stretch forward Julian Champagnie, lead guard Rasheem Dunn and forwards Marcellus Earlington and Josh Roberts. But, they need a lead option on the offensive end. Perhaps Champagnie rises into that as a sophomore. The Johnnies are counting on junior college transfer Vince Cole, a 6-6 wing who averaged over 21 points per game last season for USC Salkehatchie, to fill one of the lead roles in the Red Storm’s offense. Cole’s not the only transfer for the Red Storm. Fellow JUCO All-American Isaih Moore joins Cole. Moore is a 6-10 big man who averaged nearly 16 points and nine boards last season. He, along with a steady force in George Washington transfer Arnaldo Toro, should make the Johnnies a more physical team in the coming year.

You don't have to quarantine just because you are coming from a different state. It depends on the State and what their numbers are. From the Albany Business Review:

The travel quarantine list is shared by New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The advisory requires anyone who travels to New York, New Jersey and Connecticut from one of the named states or territories to quarantine for 14 days. People in quarantine after traveling from a state that has been removed from the advisory should continue to quarantine for the full 14 days.

The traveler quarantine applies to any person arriving from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a 7-day rolling average or a state with a 10% or higher positivity rate over a 7-day rolling average.

New York has required travelers from states with high levels of Covid-19 cases to fill out forms detailing where they came from and where they're going. If travelers don't comply, they will face the possibility of a summons and a $2,000 fine. Those who violate the quarantine order could be subject to fines of up to $10,000.

As of October 6th, the 33 states and two territories above the threshold include:

▪Alabama
▪Alaska
▪Arkansas
▪Colorado
▪Delaware
▪Florida
▪Georgia
▪Guam
▪Idaho
▪Iowa
▪Illinois
▪Indiana
▪Kansas
▪Kentucky
▪Louisiana
▪Minnesota
▪Missouri
▪Mississippi
▪Montana
▪North Carolina
▪North Dakota
▪Nebraska
▪New Mexico
▪Nevada
▪Oklahoma
▪Puerto Rico
▪Rhode Island
▪South Carolina
▪South Dakota
▪Tennessee
▪Texas
▪Utah
▪Wisconsin
▪West Virginia
▪Wyoming

Thanks.. that's my point though.

Baylor is in TX, and URI is in Rhode Island. If they come to play Seton Hall in NJ, wouldn't they technically need to quarantine based on list above and game was today?
