Around the Big East 25-26

It's not silly. Dybansta sucked in the first half, but he "hit some shots to claw back into the game late", when it counted and the game was on the line he played great. As I've said before when the pressure was on in the second half yukons senior leader chose to not show up.

And exactly how many shots did he take last night against AU?
It is silly because the entire game matters not just crunch time. Dybantsa poured it on late with his team down big and brought them back. Credit to him he’s a hell of a talent.

Karaban still played a great game. If you’re insinuating that he has to take over and deliver in crunch time of every game to get props, I’d disagree. Silas is their primary ball handler and will have the ball a ton. Reed is their best player and probably their best bet to get a good look on a post up later in games. Ball is another high level scorer who demands shots. That’s before getting into any of their other guys. There’s a lot of mouths to feed on that offense. Every game isn’t going to be the “Karaban game” in crunch time. Now last night sure you can say he didn’t deliver when needed with a guy like Reed out, but this season is very young and we have a large body of work with Karaban now. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal

Like usual, he will have his games where he delivers and have his games where he’s quiet. If him not being clutch was some sort of recurring theme, I’d understand the critique, but he’s shown the ability to hit several late shots for UConn. Last year included I recall a few, including one against Marquette who were obviously ranked

We'll just have to disagree. Of course the whole game matters. I just don't get the Karaban fanboys here, to me he's just a role player on a very good team.

I wouldn’t consider myself a Karaban fanboy, I just think while it’s easy to look at a guy and demand he step up in crunch time to prove himself, it doesn’t really tell the full tale of what the player brings. You’re right, he is a role player, he’s a high end role player. As such, there games where he’ll be a star, and games where he’ll let others dictate what’s happening

Gotcha', there's a few others who fit the fanboy image. ;)

Exactly, he's never been in the top 2 players on his team. Even with NIL truly great players don't stay 4 years and age themselves out of the NBA draft. I've said many times he's an Alfred, and Alfred was important. Needed to step in and be Batman on one or two occasions. But Gotham City would be in ruins if he had to do it often.

I know everyone is disappointed at the Big East’s showing thus far and what it means for the league and our SOS etc. But, the bottom line is that we need to take care of our business!! We need to win at least 3 or 4 of these OOC games against power conference teams. If we do that we’ll be fine. If we don’t then we’ll probably still finish second in the Big East , which will be a two bid league if this poor showing keeps up, and we’ll wind up in a 7 - 10 game in March.
Or we just go 18-2 again

Absolutely we can. But, last year that didn’t even get us a 1 seed due to our loses out of conference. The Big East is weaker this season than last season. Even if we go 18-2 in conference, we won’t get a 1 seed. We’ll get the worst Two seed like we did last year which gave a really tough 2nd round matchup against Arkansas. We have to win at least 3 or 4 of these tough OOC games or the committee will look for every way to screw us come Selection Sunday and a weak Big East will make it even easier for them to do it.

Do you think UConn wins the two recent titles without him?
