Around the Big East 19/20
Friday, November 8th:

7:00 PM - Siena at Xavier (95.4%) - YES
8:00 PM - FDU at Depaul (83.4%) - FS2
I will be tuning into the DePaul game to watch FDU's Jahlil Jenkins. He's a 6'0 PG that was a lot of fun to watch in the last year's NCAA Tournament. He's a junior now, I am surprised he didn't jump ship for a bigger program.

I'm probably naive, but I'd like to think that a good percentage of otherwise happy kids will stay where they are unless someone is whispering in their ear. Bigger programs probably couldn't find someone to get in his ear.

Watching the DePaul game and noticing Charlie Moore is a very nice player. True scoring point guard type. Look out for this kid.

DePaul finished strong and won by 11. Not only is the Big East undefeated (I know, not that difficult given the competition), but we also have won all games by >10 points. Perfect for the NET!

Georgetown has looked surprisingly unimpressive in their first two games. Needed a huge comeback to beat Mt St Mary's and today they beat Central Arkansas (who lost to Baylor by 40-something) by 11 but they never went up more than 15 or 16 and Central Arkansas was in it the entire way. MacClung 6 points on 1-10 shooting & Akinjo only 5pts on 2-8 shooting. The transfer big man Yurtseven however has looked as good as advertised. Hopefully they get it together in time for Penn State in the Gavitt Games.

An extremely, small sample being they've only played two games, but I've noticed a suspect defense and a propensity to turn over the ball.

Color me also being unimpressed, but still very early in the season.

Yes. Poor defense. Worse than us guarding the 3pt line but as you point out very small sample size. Also to be fair LeBlanc was suspended for the first game and didn't get as many minutes as usual today. Would think he'll be very helpful defensively when he's back in the flow. Not quite sure what's going on there.

Myles Powell of SH injured ankle in game today and in locker room.

Now out for game. Pirates btw have Michigan St this week.

Playing w/o Myles Powell for the rest of the game, No. 12 Seton Hall trails Stony Brook 33-31 at the break

Unfortunate. Hope Powell doesn't have to miss much time.

I would be surprised if SH doesn't put Stony Brook away in the 2nd half. They have enough fire power.

Hall was able to pull away in the second half, and the Big East still has won every game by double digits, but tough news for Hall:

Chris McManus
@ChrisSHUhoops
Kevin Willard said Myles Powell is getting x-rays and that they will be cautious with his return, with his post-SH future in mind. "Not a 1-2 game thing-- could be a prolonged absence." Full quote soon.

Glad they are doing the right thing if he misses 10 games so be it .He can not take any chances since he will I think be a high draft pick

Hate to see anyone get injured but particularly tough for a great kid like Powell who decided to return to try to lead the Hall to a very big year. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

The 5th Annual Gavitt Tipoff Games start tonight. @BIGEASTMBB vs. @B1GMBBall provides a great early barometer for teams.

Tonight - DePaul @ Iowa

Tuesday - Creighton @ Michigan, Minnesota @ Butler

Wednesday - Villanova @ Ohio State,

Providence @ Northwestern, Purdue @ Marquette

Thursday - Penn State @ Georgetown, Michigan State @ Seton Hall

Would love to see the conference go 4 and 4, think Seton hall loses because of no Powell.

Cassius Winston's status up in the air for that game, because of the tragic passing of his brother, although he played in their game last night.

A chance for the support players on both teams to shine, maybe.
