Around the Big East 18/19

Per Jerry Carino

Kevin Willard will serve a two-game, university-implemented suspension---tonight’s exhibition against Misericordia and next Tuesday’s opener against Wagner---in response to an NCAA investigation into allegations of transfer tampering, Gannett New Jersey has learned.

Assistant coach Grant Billmeier will run the team during the two games. Willard will continue to run the 12th-ranked Hall’s practices between the two games

Multiple sources: The Seton Hall trasnfer involved in the tampering investigation is Taurean Thompson. #shbb
Thompson has thus far proved to be high maintenance player, glad we lost out on him.

Thought Les Miserables closed. Can’t believe they got the cast back for an exhibition.

We now know why Boeheim never released TT when he transferred something not needed now with portal.

That is why TT could not be on scholarship his 1st year at SHU.

So, he has to sit out an exhibition against Misericordia and then Wagner. To quote Joseph Conrad's Kurtz, "Oh, the horror, the horror!"
Hey, why not do it if you only. A 2game suspension
That’s why they do it. They only get a slap on the wrist. It’s not really 2 games 1 is only an exhibition. And the real game is against a patsy.

They only won by 74 without him. The margin might have reached triple digits had Willard been on the sideline.

That's a real steep price to pay.

Cooley says Nate Watson is still a ways away from practicing, Greg Gantt is getting close and Luwane Pipkins is good to go for Tuesday’s opener #pcbb

Zach did a nice job with that piece. Looking forward to watching Hall this year.

As much as I want to destroy them, there's no denying that Seton Hall living up to their potential this year would be great for the conference, It helps defeat the tired "Big East is nothing without Villanova" argument fans from other conferences hit us with. Xavier and Nova both being #1 seeds a couple of years ago was great, Looks like Hall, Nova and Xavier all have potential to be high seeds in March. Personally, Xavier is my sneaky pick to win the league but I understand that I'm probably in the minority there. League will be extremely tough this year. Need LJ and Heron to both stay healthy to compete.

Like Willard or not, he has built a program at SHU (sorry, couldn’t resist Dinkins). As for Powell, I have known him a bit since HS, always an impressive young man, the type of person you hope you get the opportunity to know better. Worked hard upon coming to the Hall and wish him nothing but success on and off the court. He has earned everything in front of him, athletically and in “real life”, the right way, hard work.

Karim Mane is the number 1 player in Canada for 2020. At times I have seen him on certain lists as a low first round draft pick. He is big at 6 5 for a pg and is a super athlete. Marquette and Georgetown are in his top 10 finalists.

Given our proximity and history, I've always hated SH (albeit a softcore hate). But I think the world of Powell. As you put it, he has earned everything ... the right way, hard work. He's great to watch and I wish him nothing but the best. As as far as his coach and teammates go, that's antoher story.
