Around the Big East 18/19

Point to a bad team in the big east. No bad teams and you play everyone twice. Yea we should have a few more wins but this os very solid conference.
I still have a vibe this conference will be done once the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is complete.
Wouldn’t be surprised by that. But nothin in the tournament should surprise anyone any more.

Good win for Seton Hall. Never a bad thing to potentially get 4 Big East teams in the dance opposed to 3.
Wow. A T in Wright.
The refs decided not to hit him with a tech. Seton Hall wasn't at the FT line when he called his team over. So, no delay of game T on Jay Wright.

Solid, well played game with SH winning turnover & rebounding battle. Refreshing to see basic hoops w/o alley oops & out of control possessions. Nice win Hall!

I know everyone likes to talk about the Whitehead-Tiny fiasco. But, bottom line, Willard is better than any coach we have had in the last 20 years.

At the time, I supported Lavin for not going there WRT Whitehead's recruitment. It is pretty clear now, that it was a mistake not to do that.

That single event, moved Seton Hall's program in one direction, and ours in another. But again, I supported it at the time, so it's a good thing I'm not running this program, I guess.

Maybe.... Their team kinda reminds me of the Hatten-led teams. Mainly, the team that went to the Tournament during his first season at St. John's. That particular team played tough D and could rebound. But Hatten (whom I would take over Powell), similar to Powell, was the one who really made the team go.

Seton hall got some BIG time performances from some of their role players. Mamu with huge double double. Cale hit a hand full of 3’s. Freshmen Rhoden had 15 points with 5 3s.

I still would consider Seton Hall to be mediocre since Willard has taken over and not one I'd want to emulate. But I will give Willard his props for getting this team to the dance this season.
Powell is fantastic but the refs let him get away with some egregious carries.
That means he is well prepared for the NBA!

As they dance for fourth year in a row, you really do have to acknowledge KW has built what appears to be a successful, sustainable program. Cooley has also done likewise despite PC struggling this year. Dancing five years in a row is evidence of that.

Any reason why we can't do the same?

As a team that is constantly killed on the boards, how good does Mamu look with 10 rebounds
on the offensive end, 18 total today.

He hasn't played particularly well against us, FWIW. Certainly not in the MSG game. I'd have to check the boxscore of the first matchup.
