Around the Big East '17-18

Lavin recruited circles around Willard. The one great class Willard pulled was because he hired two shady assistants, one of whom already has been in trouble (Antigua, who brought Delgado and Carrington as part of the package) and the other who would have gotten trouble had he stayed longer (Tiny, who brought Whitehead and Desi). If Lavin agreed to Tiny's demands he probably is still coaching at SJU, and Willard is fired.

Since the Whitehead class, the Hall's recruiting has improved; Powell is a player, Cale looks like a player, I thought Walker was a player and he has Thompson coming in next year who will be a very good front court piece. Hall will have a good year because they were able to convince Delgado to stay another year and because Desi has turned out to be the ultimate diamond-in-the rough -- a kid from NY without the hype who turned into a helluva college player very quickly. Going forward, jury is still out, and I think Willard knows that which is why he was close to taking the South Florida job last year.

Cartwright only played a few minutes.

Wasn't sure if he woukd play at all since he looked like he hurt ankle badly in 2nd half over weekend.

They have one more game this Fri night vs Sacred Heart before us next week

Interesting situation with Nova. It seems Nova is following Jayvon Quinerly again. Also, they sent an assistant to talk to him.

I didn’t even know Jahvon went back to Hudson Catholic. Interesting to say the least

Seton Hall has suspended senior forward Ish Sanogo for a violation of team rules. No timetable given but he will not play tomorrow vs. Manhattan. This has been one rocky week in Pirate-land.

That’s not good for SHU. Not because he was important this year, but he was needed for next year. I also believe he attended the Patrick School as well. That could ruffle some feathers with the power program.

We struggle to keep kids in the Tri-State area, but SHU really really struggles to keep talent in the Tri-State area, they don’t need that extra hurdle. I actually want SHU to be good for a long time.
I root for all the BE teams. It’s in our best interest for RPI and long term success of BE.

It sounds like he did something pretty serious and could be looking at a multi-game suspension. It doesn't say what he did, but it doesn't sound like academic and used "really poor judgement".

Georgetown up 18 at halftime against Butler. Butler looks very limited offensively with Martin on the bench in foul trouble.

I'll say - some game! I left with Gtown up 18 at half to watch an episode of Stranger Things with my son. Came back to see a great finish in regulation and now going on second overtime!

Another nail-biter, with Xavier with a road win at Marquette, 91-87.

(And in the expected non-nail-biter, Nova crushed DePaul.)

That was a must win for Gtown. Butler isn't very good losing 3/4 of its games to Big 6 conference teams.

Govan putting up huge stats for Gtown.
