A solid class by the Hoyas. In many ways, the first class can be the easiest as it's still in the "honeymoon" stages. If they start to win, then he and his staff hard work will also pay off down the road on the recruiting trail.

Akinjo may give him the point guard they've been sorely missing. On the flip side, if Derrickson does indeed sign with an agent and Govan decides being drafted in the 2nd round is enough for him, then Georgetown will take another step backwards on the court.

By the way, Carter is not listed anywhere as a 4-star recruit (3-star). Some exaggerating by Casual.

No doubt, one of the best transfers on the market. His dad resides in the DMV area, hence his signing with Georgetown. The Hoyas are hoping the NCAA gives the nod to the GPA eligibility rule, and Yurtseven is immediately eligible to play during the 2018-2019 season.

If not, I think he bails on 'em midseason or after next season to pursue professional ball.

If that rule happens Caraher plays immediately at SJU. Not going to happen this year.

I just took a peek at the new rankings, and noticed Akinjo's ascension and Williams was no longer in Rivals' top 150. Williams was once among Rivals' top 80 recruits a year ago. These kids pay attention to this stuff, so I'm hoping he comes in with a chip on his shoulder.

I believe Rivals' rankings for the 2019 and 2020 classes will respectively be updated in a couple days.

This is probably a very dumb question, but i noticed that the last 15 players in Rivals' updated rankings are 3*-rated. (Alan Griffin 3* ranked 149.)
Is Greg Williams a 4* by Rivals? If so, how is it that 3*-rated kids are ranked higher than a 4* player?
And given the vibes we've been getting about GW's character and intensity--yes, i bet he comes in very hungry.

Williams plays at small school & does not get attention from some evaluators. In some other ratings, he’s viewed higher. Even if he is a 3 or 3+ kid he looks like he has a nice upside.
 
Ewing doing some good things down in DC. I think he will be successful, I was impressed by his coaching in his first year. Looks like it will be a heated rivalry from here on out which is good for the big east. Hopefully we keep the momentum going because their rebuild is moving fast.

I can't say their "rebuild is moving fast" until I see the product pay off on the court. Remember, they won 15 games overall after having won 10 games before conference play even started. Mainly, those 10 wins was due to one of the softest schedules in the last 15 years in college basketball.

Do I think they looked better than initially advertised? Yes, I would say so. But that had to do with the expectations being so low. In reality, their frontcourt talent wasn't bad to begin with in Govan and Derrickson (although, I thought they both showed improvement). It was their backcourt which actualy did 'em in.

Their backcourt with more experience and talent coming in should be better, but their frontcourt could take a significant hit if Derrickson decides to go through signing with an agent and Govan, 'though he didn't sign with an agent, doesn't return after also tossing his name into the draft.

In order to keep the momentum going, you had to already have it on your side, right? LOL

If Govan leaves that would set them back some but they seem to be headed in the right direction. By momentum i was referring to the Caraher signing, hopefully we sign a few more and get that big man we've all been waiting for.

I agree, they are landing players which is usually the first step in any rebuild. I'm also one who thinks it's generally a bit easier (not exactly "easy") to get players when you initially come in as it's the "honeymoon period." Now, Ewing and his staff are out there grinding for the most part, but their job could become tougher if they aren't winning ball games.

I also agree, if Govan leaves (along, with Derrickson), then they're done for next season. I had an idea what you meant, in regards to our "momentum." Nothing against Caraher, as he looks to be a good pickup, but it'll be 19 months before he suit up and we're still in need of another player or two. So, that's why I asked that rhetorical question regarding "momentum." LOL

As, you also know.... I'm still not exactly sold on Ponds returning.
