I agree but I also do think there is only so much finite money available for these football programs, that no regulations can combat.And funnel extra money legally through NoBull and other legit businesses. I just can't see the football schools tolerating St. John's and Villanova having this much of an advantage over them for long.
They roster so many more guys, so many more coaches, and the premium positions eat up almost entire basketball budgets inofitself. Ohio State had a 38 million dollar deficit in 2024 FY. That obviously won't stop them for investing in their athletic programs, but it is a big advantage that we don't have to even think about football.
They may have to combat this with private equity. But that is a long-term disaster waiting to happen.
Us being able to legally pay players, plus having that more corporate mindset, should really put us in an advantageous position for years to come -- as long as we make the correct hire after Pitino.
