Around College Basketball

I don't mean this in any sort of political way. But why wait until someone dies to cancel the season for everyone? It's clearly possible that someone could die the way things are proceeding. So why wait for that to happen?
No idea, maybe after canceling it Iast year, they really want to play the season this year?
Well obviously but you're missing my point. There is a chance someone could die. They know that going in and there isn't much they can do to prevent it. Yet they are taking the risk anyway and unless someone dies they will keep going. Why not just keep playing if someone dies, since they are already willing to let someone die for the sake of playing.
Because dying from COVID as a healthy stud athlete at the highest college level aged 23 and less is extremely, extremely hard to do. That's why schools are open in many places. If there's a player with serious health complications already and nervous about COVID, they shouldn't be playing anyway, but they could simply sit out until vaccine is available, or wait for next season.

I totally get that. But it's not just players is it? High risk coaches and staff and personell? My point isn't that the they shouldn't play, and I'm not arguing the chance of someone dying is very minimal. I just have an issue if the plan really is to cancel the season if someone dies, simply because they are willing to take that risk going in and know there's a legit chance that could happen during a global pandemic. But regardless, let's just drop this topic, don't want to turn off this into another pandemic debate.

Big news and potential game changer per Rothstein

“The CDC is finalizing guidelines to lessen 14-day quarantines after positive COVID-19 tests. This is the X-Factor to the 20-21 college basketball season.”

Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hofstra-Monmouth cancelled due to a positive Monmouth test.

Pitino is right.

This is wild chain of events

Stephen F. Austin left its Texas home yesterday thinking that they would be opening the season tomorrow against Rhode Island at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. By the end of the day, the schedule had changed and they were going to be matched up with San Francisco. Army had been added, giving the Lumberjacks three solid games to start the season. By this morning, everything had changed and SFA was making preparations to return to Texas this afternoon because a member of the support staff had tested positive for COVID.

Zed Key 12 and 5 so far in his first game. Efficient 3/4 from field and 6/9 from the line.

This Western Kentucky vs Northern Iowa game on The U is a very good game. Two high quality mid majors.
