Around College Basketball

I am watching the 2nd half of the FDU vs Merrimack NEC championship game on ESPN2. I didn’t see the first half but the second half has been entertaining.

The freshman from Merrimack Jordan Derkack who had a good game against us earlier this season is a baller. He’s made some nice moves and passes well. Not saying he is a high major player, but I really like his game and most.

stinks the NCAA bans them from post season play.

They could have requested a waiver after there first year but it might have been difficult as it was their entire sports program as opposed to James Madison who moved their football program from FCS to FBS while already in D1. With the success they had in their first FBS season and facilities already in place, they are expected to request and be granted a waiver on the two year bar.

Earlier this year Boeheim was very arrogant saying the decision to come back next year was entirely HIS.

Now he is saying that the it is his decision on retirement but that the ultimate decision on him coming back next year belongs to the University.

Everyone saying it sure sounds like he is inching closer to retiring.

And something else, he actually said, "Thank you, thank you" during the brief halftime interview ... and with a smile on his face, no less.

Like the Johnnies, Davidson played in 8-9 game, won fairly easily over Bonnies but now have to play #1 seed VCU next.
Loyola lost to st Joe's in first round and third time this season. Hope that doesn't happen to st john's tomorrow against Marquette for a third time.

Wisconsin loses to 13-18 Ohio State in the 1st round of the B10 tournament while being squarely on the bubble. In an expanded NCAA Tournament field this Wisconsin team would be a lock to make it. Would absolutely ruin the game.
