Around College Basketball 2019/20 Season

Except smart people have been facing it for months already by wearing masks and social distancing. How are athletes going to do either of those things?
Hockey players, nba players, and baseball players are playing, hockey and basketball are both contact sports.
College players?
What's the differnce? Hockey players aren't catching it and neither are the nba guys.
Yeah the Marlins and cards got exposed to it, but those two were off field issues.

If college can do the same as the pros (now can they or not, I have no idea), then I'd expect the same results.
How exactly can the NCAA bubble 4,550 men's college basketball players?
lol they can't.
I was thinking each conference can get a bubble of some sorts individually.
I would love for that to work, but I still think it's a logistical nightmare. Works with pros because it's their job. Can't really yank college kids away from life for a basketball season, and it's all honor system if each team bubbles itself. I personally don't think football pulls it off, but we still have a few more months for basketball to work on it (or society to work on virus).

That would be suicide for the NCAA. Moving revenue generating athletes to a bubble in order to produce income for the school would seemingly invalidate their paper thin contention that these kids are STUDENT-athletes and shouldn't be paid.

I have no clue but how do u tell a school like ohio state that they cant play even though the SEC, ACC and Big 12 can. I cant imagine oh st is going to go quietly into the night.
Sounds like Big Ten schools need to toe the line or else. We'll see how other conferences feel, but I imagine it'll be the same.
Pretty sure they signed over their TV rights to the conference when they joined so even if an outlier goes rogue and tries to join the SEC, they are only getting a fraction of whatever TV money that would be coming their way, right?

Any lawyers want to weigh in on what awaits a team that tries to skip on its agreement to join a specific conference?

Big 12 will play football this fall. With the ACC, SEC and Big 12, it will still be a great college football season. We all know its coming down to clemson/bama anyway.

And the more success the football season has, the greater chance we get a great college basketball season.

Great news all around.

Will these conferences also have fans in the Stadiums--or just play for TV $$$$'s?
These schools thread through the South, SE, a small stretch of the NE, and the Midwest.
Anybody else bracing for a spike in Covid across the country--from school openings to College Football frenzy?

The Big 10, which is really 12 , makes a bold statement by deferring Football to the post January Winter or Spring 2021. Tough to predict what the ACC, SEC or Big 12 decide . Can you imagine the Broadcast Conflicts between College FB and College BB if both Sports are televising a Game on Saturday afternoon ? The Major Networks , NBC, CBS, ABC all have affiliated Sports Networks that they can relocate the Conflicts to , in a jam.

No one is playing spring football. The top 50-100 big ten players will be gone for the draft. No player is going to want to use up a year of eligibilty on a crap season. A running back is not going to take 200 carries in the spring and then come back and get beat up in the fall. Players would just train in the spring and be ready for a real fall season.

The spring season idea is truly awful and dangerous for these kids. Way more dangerous anything Covid poses.

Source: Big East presidents meeting and vote later this afternoon. Likely headed to a canceled fall sports season. League already had gone conference-only.

If speaking something into existence worked, I'd be hooking up with the busty cashier from the Alameda Target. Not sure whether I admire your confidence or think you are being totally ridiculous about this, but I'd be truly shocked if a three-conference season goes off the way you think it will. If it actually does work, it's a total joke if they name a champion.

Can he actually coach? I thought his forte was recruiting.
I saw some quotes that he’s a big relationship guy so he would be someone who can attract top talent to the Knicks. Calipari said the addition would immediately help Kevin Knox.

Final 4 of Clemson, Bama, Georgia and Oklahoma (4 of the top 5 pre season ranked teams only missing Ohio St.) would lend a legitimate Covid Year Champion. We all recognize things are not normal. Not saying this all doesn't fall apart before it even starts just speaking theoretically.

It's just such a weird year that the champ won't feel legitimate to me if other conferences sit out, even though there's only one legit contender from any of them. I actually can't see any champ in any sport feeling legit. Of course, if the Isles win the cup, I'm forced to reassess that stance.

He was their top recruiter and a communicator. Also saw quotes that he was a good "developmental guy" and not strictly a recruiter.

I don't know but I do know that some top recruiters are also good at development and turn out to be good coaches.

He will help in the free agent department as he knows how to spread/spend the money.

But seriously nothing can help the Knicks until Dolan goes. Durant would not listen because of him.
