Around College Basketball 2019/20 Season

I don’t believe patients that have recovered from Covid are carriers. The problem is people are very contagious right before they develop symptoms.

Not hoops but salient

The 1.2% average is right around the US average as well and much lower than other sports leagues. I am more interested in seeing the antibody tests for the guys to see how many people have had it without knowing.
College football, but relevant to hoops;

College football in the spring growing more likely amid coronavirus

https://nypost.com/2020/07/04/college-football-season-may-be-moved-to-spring-amid-coronavirus/
I think if that happens alot of the top kids wont play. They will just get ready for the nfl. A kid like trevor lawrence would be crazy to play all spring and the go right to the nfl. That is too much risk of injury. Im sure alot of kids will feel this way.

NCAA VP for basketball floats idea of starting the season early, saying it is “almost a certainty” that some mid-winter games will be canceled. Article;

Wow. The opposite of what many people are projecting. Sounds like a good idea to get ahead of a 'winter wave' (God forbid!), but also sounds complicated to manage: headline games vs. OOC vs. Conference games. I would think all conference members have to play the same # of in-conference games.
But we shall see.

Hmm...1% of people testing positive and then within that 1% very few have any serious symptoms. But life has to stop? Seems a bit much. This virus does not have a 90% mortality rate or it would make perfect sense. Billions at risk over this. 45 million jobless.

I hope at the very least we can have conference play

Now they might have to change OOC schedule and play only "in state" schools as some states (NYS/NJ/CT/etc.) have 14 day quarantine requirements.

A lot will happen between now and November. By then this might be reversed.

Agreed. Id loved to see an asymptomatic stat. They have no problem telling you how many test positive but how about telling us how many of them are actually sick.

Over 80% of those infected already have zero symptoms. Meaning not even a cough or sore throat. The cure cannot be worse than the virus. Imagine burning your house down because you were scared of a tiny spider. This is clearly worse than the flu, but when you don't include the elderly in the death count for COVID, it actually is similar to the flu deaths. 80% asymptomatic, others with minor symptoms. We will continue to see a huge increase in cases because of way more testing which is expected. And the deaths keep slowing...down 92% right now nationally. When cases skyrocket, but death rate slows to a trickle, that means it was not nearly as dangerous as we thought.

In sports we have athletes in the prime of their lives...the best of the best. Test everyone, watch closely, monitor closely, wear masks and distance when necessary, but don't take this away from them.

No specifics have come out yet but are the people who tested positive asymptomatic? In most of these cases, they are.

If they are going to put a halt on everything anytime a person with no symptoms tests positive then there is no way they will have a season.

Rutgers announced yesterday they will be primarily online instruction for the fall. Football decision to be made within 2 weeks.
