Are we in better shape than last year?
I'm hoping in this scenario that Trimble leaves and we get a grad transfer or JUCO big. I like Trimble but we need the big more. If we do not sign anyone else and Trimble stays then we need either Roberts or Diakite to come up big this year.
I think we'll have 1 more guy leave. Maybe Diakite and Trimble stays this year.
So, 1 more commit. I'm hoping with the rest of Board for a 'big'--but I want a good niche piece, not merely 'serviceable'.
Thinking we miss on Dachon Burke--and our 'big' is today's version of The Round Mound of Rebound--not Barkley, but also from Auburn--Desean Murray..
Sweet.

If Matt’s tweets are any indication, I don’t think Trimble is leaving. Matt said as much on Twitter. Btw, maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t it seem inappropriate that Matt is engaging fans regarding the status of a student athlete on social media?

Is it true that Mullin didn’t participate in the home visit with Burke?

From what I saw, Matt was defending Trimble. Some idiots on Twitter keep saying that Trimble should transfer. Matt responded with this:

You guys are all passionate fans but crazy how anyone would voice an opinion of getting rid of a kid. Just my opinion. They all work hard. And WE expect big things from @btrim12

I think this is an appropriate answer to what was said. Maybe we shouldn’t be kicking kids to the curb even though they will be a help to this team for the next 3 years. Continuity is what this program needs, not forcing a kid out who has 3 years left for a 1 year guy.

Yes, but did speak by phone prior to scheduling his campus visit. Can see Burke’s official being cancelled & him heading to Nebraska. Not a big loss with all the guards.

I will say again Trimble is returning & if/when they need a spot it seems clear who would be encouraged to move on.

All indications are that Trimble is staying and we as fans should not be trying to force him out or speculate that he's thinking about leaving. We offered him a scholarship and he accepted. He showed a good stroke as a Freshman and hopefully he gets his but in shape this summer and takes a step forward in Year 2. You can never have enough good shooters and there's something to be said for roster continuity. We should all be rooting for this kid to succeed, not tweeting him asking if he's transferring.

Diakite, I would assume.

I think we are neutral with the LJ signing offsetting Lovett but in a weaker BE.

As much as we want a big man, I don’t think Mullin wants one. He seems to want long and lean that can get up and down the floor.

LJ offsets Bashir not LoVett. Hopefully Dixon offers some of what LoVett did

Why are people including Lovett in comparisons of last years team to next year's team. Lovett quit on the team and didn't play in the last 20 games of the season. So it is a no brainer that Dixon or even Greg Williams will give us more than Lovett did.

St. John's and Mullin have done the right thing with Diakite and accepted and rehabbed him. Now, if he can't play at a high level or has physical issues either offer him an academic scholarship or he can move on to another school. Use the scholarship for a remaining rebounder or save it.

We are definitely in better shape than last year. Especially now with the addition of LJ We lost Ahmed and Owens of guys who actually played last year. ( not counting yakwe Ali or Lovett since they barely played). So we add LJ who possibly can step right in and give us similar to better than Ahmed’s numbers ( I expected more from him at sju). Dixon should be more than ready to step in and contribute, keita will be stepping in with significant minutes. So right there we are 1 more deeper than last year. Then you add Williams who should be playing a decent amount (10min -15 min) just based on his defensive abilities and I’m sure Roberts and Earlington will be able to at the very least give guys a rest or come in for a short time for foul trouble. So now we are 4 guys deeper than last year. We played 6 guys last year way to many times ( but really was better than yakwe and Ali coming in as when they did we were significantly worse aside from a few decent defensive efforts from Ali late last year). Not sure this came out easy to read or not on my cracked iPhone that I can barely see but bottom line is yes we are much better in my opinion now after adding LJ. He seems like a guy that can not only step right but contribute as well. Didn’t mention Diakite based on the question marks around his rehab but being a physical therapist I would say he has had more than ample time to rehab his injury and get himself back into playing shape

This team will have a lot of firepower offensively. Will they continue improvement evidenced last year defensively and rebound more proficiently is the question.

We certainly don't need to sign another guard right now. But on the date of Burke's in-home visit, we had not yet signed Eli Wright. As a rabid fan, I do wonder why Mullin did not attend? Fair or unfair, our fan base is beginning to question his commitment to recruiting. If it's unfair, then showing up for an in-home with this highly regarded transfer target would be one way to thwart an inaccurate perception.
