It is just too perfect of a fit and makes so much sense on many levels . It's just a dream for many on here including myself for Rice to come on board and he would be interested. Truth is though that there is no spot open at this time and I highly doubt that Rice would come here in Richmond's old spot . I also don't think the school would take on the extra salary.

If no changes on staff, then even more questionable what Richmond is bringing to the table and why he's not tagging along w/ Dan Matic or Matt A at the events this weekend, even if just to have name presence.
Richmond should go back to his special assistant role and let Rice take the 2nd assistant spot.
If this team gets going, and Mullin passes off .... my I'd really like to see some continuity in staff pipeline...

So you enjoy teasing us with rice bowls and getting guys with bad tickers all worked up?
I would have preferred a Rice for Richmond swap. Rice has established roots in the NYC metro area while Mitch has had to adjust to a bi-coastal family life which is a difficult task. The west coast ties of the current staff are so similar to the previous staff that one could have nightmares if dwelled upon.
Hopefully we establish some coaching roots here at St. John's and cease the revolving door that has led to rebuilding every 5 years. Multi-millionaires like Mullin and Richmond are not here for the salary and want to be succesful so we have to give them time to adjust to the college game.
We may be one player or two away from turning the corner and until the school year is over I will be patient.
Three vacancies to fill in weeks is not easy but we need a complete roster to make practices competitive.
We will all give a little more time say another yr before voices get stringer and goals go unachieved But time is a ticking

Re:Rice, Reasonable record by most standards, but rumors about him being in demand here may just be folly.

Having Mullin on the bench may still benefit the program. Having Mitch is yet to be determined. Coach Rice comes from the Bobby Knight school of sensitivity and political correctness. I have no issue with intense coaches.
