Anderson - is he really the guy ?

I’m an Anderson fan. Very big fan. But if we’re making a move in a year or so I’m looking over at the Fordham bench at Neptune…

If we dont make the tourney this year, which we probably wont, Id give serious consideration to looking at a coach like Drew Valentine.  Hes only 30 but shot up the ranks quickly and has Chicago Loyola off to their best start in team history.

Im ready to take a chance on a hotshot, young coach.  Maybe hes the next Jay Wright.

this is what I posted on another thread on this topic of Drew ValentineAs a fan and close follower of the Loyola Chicago program for several years now, there is a lot to like about Drew Valentine, but he is achieving success largely with the roster Porter Moser had assembled, including with 4 super seniors, and running much of the same system Moser runs.  I think the next couple of years will be crucial to his development, and with Loyola moving to the A-10, let's see its level of success then.

And in no way do I think we need or should move on from CMA until it is readily apparent we must.  We are far from there yet.
If we dont make the tourney this year(which we are not) which Champy came back to specifically do, then when will you be ready to move on from CMA.

This was the year coach mike HAD to make the tourney.  And we are not.

CMA not going anywhere until his contract is up.

Coach blew it by not doing everything possible to bring earlington back.  He should have promised him 30 minutes a night if thats what it took.

The Duke is sorely missed this year.

Problem is not CMA or a coaching change, its facilities, loss of dorm stipend, decline of NYC ball players in general and lack of recent SJU alum in the NBA.

Gone are the days of NYC having the best ball players.  Everyone stayed indoors once the internet and computers were easily available to all.  Growing up it was a task to find an empty playground to play ball in, now all the playgrounds are empty. All this being said I will still continue to root for any SJU team.

with a per game stat line at USD of 23 min, 45% shooting, 39% from 3's, 70% FT, 13.5points, and 6.3 rebounds, I am not sure he's the world beater we're missing

You would have been safer insulting his mom or his wife or his sister or his girlfriend

He may not be THE guy, but he's enough of a guy that he's not getting fired after this season, or next season either.

One of the coaches I'll be keeping an eye on is Ryan Odom. He completely rejected us the first time, but maybe he tires of living in Utah right around the time Anderson runs his course here if that indeed happens.

Do you have inside info in support of the proposition that CMA’s job is safe for the next two years, irrespective of results.  That strikes me as absurd.

Yep, I do. He's not getting fired.                                             The College Basketball Coaching line up is littered with the names of Coaches who got fired within a year or two of being named their Conferences Coach of the Year .  It s a long and distinguished list .  That being said I agree CMA ‘s contract and extension seemingly give him protection against dismissal .          The old adage of “ Coaches being hired to be fired ,” is inevitable .  Exclusion being Coaches who “ Retire”

Our very own Brian Mahoney was fired within three years of being named coach of the year.  Let’s see what happens.  I agree he’s not getting fired this year nor should he.  But nobody can predict the future.  If we struggle the next two years, there will be a legitimate push.  Not many power conference schools would keep somebodyaround for more than five years without making the tournament.

Watching the Iona - Manhattan game, and commentator noted how much fundraising Pitino is doing to make improvements to facilities.

Wonder if Anderson is active on this end of the job.
