Amir Garrett

Anyone think the staff might decide to actually start Amir tonight to reward him for his loyalty and dedication? I wouldn't put it past them.

How many students tonight with winter break upon us?
I know they've sold over 5,000 already.

Still annoyed that NCAA said 3 recruits not eligible.....Congrats to Amir for sticking it out..NCAA famous for jumping on certain schools and letting the big boys off, most times with just knuckle scrape...Sort like the IRS,SEC.

 i like this one =)

That kid he dunked over had to be a 7 footer! Who was he?

Its in the title of the video ;)
7'2

He's class of 2013. His brother is 7'5" and on the New Mexico St roster with Remi but hasn't played yet this year.

l looked up the older brother. He had decommitted from Xavier and his dad sent him to NM State that takes non-qualifiers thinking he would get playing quicker and expects him to be in the NBA in two years. LOL!
Well, I guess when you are 7'5 and over 300 lbs with no motor, you will not play much....let alone the NBA.

Father was quoted as saying:
"At this time, we feel more comfortable going forward with New Mexico State due to their experience with Canadians and eligibility. We feel that New Mexico State provides Sim the best chance to get on the floor playing college basketball in the quickest time frame possible."

Doubt there's gonna be very many students. I know alot of the regulars live local and will be there, but I'd be shocked if we had enough to even fill one side unfortunately. Hopefully I'm wrong

Can you guys rotate sides? So follow the opposing team to the 2nd half side like you do in soccer?

Dammit! Can't make it tonight. Would have loved to have been there and given Amir a standing O for his dedication.

Let's Go Redmen!

I mean we could, but I'm kinda hoping it's basically over by halftime anyway haha. Maybe the Providence game we'll stand on our defensive end the whole game if we have to.

Welcome, Amir!

From today's Newsday:

As a recent Cincinnati Reds draft pick, who received a $1-million bonus as a lefthanded pitcher, Garrett certainly had other options. But he remained true to his commitment to play basketball for the Red Storm. "It was more of a pride thing," Garrett said. "My mother told me, 'Never quit when things get tough. You don't run away.' I wasn't going to give up on them. They didn't give up on me."

My own mother not only told me, but ingrained in me never to quit at anything. It wasn't a lesson learned, but more of code to live by. Garrett will do well in all things to live by his mother's advice, and it appears that it is already paying dividends in terms of his academic and athletic career at St. John's. Good luck, kid.

Amir got a very nice ovation when he came into the game, and throughout his play. The fans were very supportive of him, and rightly so.

I couldn't wait for Amir to be introduced so i could stand up and welcome him.

Amir's attitude has become a rare commodity nowadays.

Thanks Mrs Garrett.
