Love this kid's attitude. He will be a winner for us.

Him and pointer at the top of the zone will be a nightmare for teams

This kid is a fan favorite before he even suits up. Gotta love his passionate desire to be part of this team.

Tweet from Amir tonight:

"I really appreciate all the support from e St john's family, they aren't fans to me, we are one big family.  You guys keep me going"

No matter what this kid does on the court, I wish him great success. Kid has heart and deserves what he gets. Can't wait to see him here.

The kid is a freak athelete. If you get him and pointer on the court together with a shot blocking center next year, we could possible be the best defensive team in the nation. IMHO

bill - to tell you the truth I loved both Sir'Dom and Amir when I saw them at IS8. Pointer has been a firecracker on defense and Amir's tweets have brought a smile to my face and put a spring in my step.

First starting watching SJU when David Russell was an upperclassmen, loved his game. If Amir is 75% of David Russell, we got something good.

I think Garrett will give us some help inside too, as he was forced to play inside the lane in HS at times.

I noticed that Amir almost always gets to the basket when his team shoots and often grabs the rebound to start a break. That's smart old style basketball and with this team it should translate into a lot of points.

Can't wait to see Amir in a Johnnies uniform.

Amir will do a lot of things that Lavin and co. want to do moving forward. Amir is an elite athlete, gets rebounds, blocks and can drive on his man. His outside shot isn't bad but still needs some tuning. Regardless, his addition will be invaluable this season as well as over the next few years.

Not to mention how valuable hell be once he perfects his curve and changeup.

 He's grown.

NEW YORK — St. John’s may well add 6-foot-7 wing Amir Garrett at the semester break in December, his prep school coach told SNY.tv

He was a legit 6'6" when he was at Findlay, so it's certainly possible. He's real long and will give us another versatile forward this season. With Garrett I actually think this team can be quite successful after what I saw last night.

Would be awesome to get a rotation of 8.

Indeed Tom, it would be great to get an 8 man rotation. I especially like that Garrett can play more than one position and he adds another quality defensive player. That one extra player, in Garrett, would allow us to play a bit more aggressively with 5 more fouls to give. I temper my excitement knowing that the "wonderful NCAA" might take just enough extra time to clear Amir so that he misses the second half of the season as well.

Are you assuming that if Garrett played Nuri wouldn't have fouled out?
