Amir Garrett Leaving St. John's

Sealy was never going to play more than a few minutes the next two years, so I can't fault him for wanting to go somewhere else where he can play or at least compete for big minutes. He accomplished all he reasonably could at STJ already by appearing in a game. 6'8 walkons with experience can be valuable to a team, but that value is really limited to practice and preparation. It would have been nice to have a senior with three years of experience next season after we lose GG, Sanchez, and possibly Sampson up front. His presence would have helped streamline a lot of the processes for the new bigs. As a reminder, Norm Roberts cut a player who went on to become the D-3 JUCO player of the year at the same school Wichita State's leading scorer Cleanthony Early starred at last year.

Good luck Slim Sealy!

If you read this board Amir I apologize on behalf of those redemen fans for polluting this thread about your transfer with comments about a walk on, who, while obviously just a kid who wants to play more significant minutes as a basketball player, has yet to realize, like you, that his calling in life will not be putting a round ball into a hoop.
Perhaps his good friend Malik Stith will put in a good word about him to his coach in Polukaville Kentucky where I hear they need a 6'8 slim forward to hold up the broom in practices.

What makes you think that Sealy hasn't realized his calling in life has nothing to do with basketball? He's a just a kid that is probably tired of sitting the end of a bench while some of his high school and AAU buddies are scoring 15-20 ppg and are the big men on their respective campuses. I'm sure he is well aware that basketball is not how he'll earn his living.

So he has friends that are scoring 15ppg somewhere.......so let me transfer to a D2 school and play more ball.
Bulletin: Out of high school he was not even D2 material or he would have been there!
Kid is trying to use the current name on his shirt to get some playing time "somewhere".
I agree with Fun----get over yourself kid!
The only way this marshmallow of a BB player will be a big man on campus will be in height alone!
Now let's either talk about a real athlete like Amir, the subject of this thread, or start a new thread about players we do not give a fuzz about, like Slim Sealy.

I think you missed the point of Fun's post entirely.

Things don't have to fly too high to go over '72's head when he's on a rant. The kid's tweet was directed to his followers, and since he's not Jaz Z I imagine that group makes up his friends, family and acquaintances. Oh, and apparently Kieran Lynch who is probably pretty bored right now covering and looking for something, anything to write about SJU hoops every day in April and May, I can't wait until June rolls around. Perhaps Sealy is going to try and leverage what little cache his STJ walk on status has to get into a higher ranked institution of higher learning and earn a more valuable degree. Selfish bastard.

I agree with Fun----get over yourself kid!

I didn't say anything of the kind. Try learning to read.

I know you said it jest and you and Aussie hole should see my comments and those of Simply Red the same.
A walk on marshmallow like Sealy looking for more playing time interests me as much as you blowing on your woodwind in a bar in Schenectady.

Don't get me started on a rant!
That you should say something like "Perhaps Sealy is going to try and leverage what little cache his STJ walk on status has to get into a higher ranked institution of higher learning and earn a more valuable degree" is either meant in jest or as an insult to St. John's.
Either way, stick to drinking domestic beer and you may sound more intelligent.
My guess is, like his best pal, good buddy Malik Stink, he will end up at North West Kentucky State College and finish earning his degree cummuikations.

BTW, Kieran Lynch is a college student doing his job as editor of the Torch. You, Fun and anyone else picking up on his Tweet following or that of another kid like Slim, need to get out of the house more often. The fresh air may do you good.

So you were just PRETENDING to totally misunderstand what he said. Well played, sir, well played. Too bad it led to you denigrating what appears to be a good kid who gave the team someone big to practice against the last two years but has decided to tell his friends and family that he has decided to play more hoops his last two years in college.

STOP ALREADY!
All you know about this kid is that he is 6'8!
If you haven't learned by now to stop denigrating St. John's every chance you get you would do the site a better justice.
I am not denigrating the kid....I just do not give a FF about his transfer and unless you have secret tapes of his practices stop speculating about his value, other than being 6'8.
My point is this thread was about Amir and while 98 meant well, he should have put it somewhere else...maybe on JJ.
Don't start a battle you know you will lose.

So calling him a walk-on Marshmallow was a term of endearment? I'll give you that, while the subject really doesn't even need to be discussed, it if was going to be it probably should have had it's own thread. But don't try and change the facts that you've insulted the kid in two separate posts and misread another.

I described him as a marshmallow because he appears "soft" as basketball players go. That is all I meant. You obviously want to make more out of it, as is your history with my posts, just to break balls.
I have serious doubt that in practices this year, with players such as Gift, Sanchez, Chris, Jones, Amir and Karr, Sealy had any value as the "big man" you have described.
That he is transferring is as irrelevant to basketball at SJ as the Weasles are to music. Winky!

Got it. If I was him I'd be insulted. If I was Fun I'd lose no sleep.

It's Weasels, with an el. You'd be surprised how often morons make that mistake.

Guilty as charged!
But I have dutifully listened to all the latest cuts and I subconsciously associated the name of the band with the measles.
Now if someone can only develop a vaccine against the effects of listening to the Weasels!
Frank Zappa is turning in his grave!

I actually rather enjoyed the stuff I heard. I'd go see them if a world tour ever brings them to a Bay Area venue.
