Not one of the greats, but a serviceable bench player; John Hempel

and in the same vein Mike Feigenbaum who came in with another local D2 transfer that year Aiken (forget first name) when Lou did his recruiting in the shallow end of the pool to fill some holes (remember one of their coaches ripping Lou for taking one of his players).

---
Barry Milhaven (Nassau Community College ) came in with Darrell Aiken (Westchester Community College) were originally slated to go to CW Post after Juco (he was the coach that was upset) when offered scholarships here and joined for the incoming 88/89 class.

Coach Carnesecca was trying to fill out his roster and add depth as Elander Lewis transferred, Michael Porter failed (dropped) out and Boo Harvey was going to be ineligible, plus Marcus Broadnax transfered out in the middle of the previous season.    Besides Milhaven and Aiken, the 88/89 class brought us Malik Sealy, Rob Werdann, Chuck Sproiling (who sat out the first year due to Prop) 48, Jason Buchanan and Terrence Mullin.

Mike Feiganbaum came from Ohio U.  and sat out with Bobby Kelly and Jeff Allen.  He suffered a catastrophic knee injury while practicing that year which was operated on but affected his play for the rest of his career (IIRC he actually had another surgery on it that cost him time).

Not sure if anyone mentioned James Scott. A tremendous athlete and very good basketball player, who always left me wanting just a little more.

paul berwanger - Father was a hesiman trophy winner.   Back back caused him to lose two inches in height by the time he had transferred from BC to SJU
Mark Calabrese - protoypical Looie PG - don't run the ball, don't turn it over, dsitribute the ball and shoot only when open

If I was constructing an entire juco transfer roster he'd make the cut for me. Definitely not starting five, though.

Paterson NJ's own James Scott had a beautiful looking jump shot, great elevation, and accurate.

Question for those more knowlegeable: Ed Searcy, did he transfer from Duquesne or did he change his mind before he ever played at that School.

I'm going to eliminate juncos because transfers from SJU to judo would be extremely rare and SJU had many jucos transfer  in. I couldn't come up with any front court players worthy of all time status but a backcourt of Kevin Loughary and Reggie Carter would rank with any SJU backcourt.
Ron Rowan
Lamont Middleton
Matt Brust
Marvin Clark
Justin Simon
Durand Johnson
Nyiwe
Jeff Allen

Roshown McLeod
Elijah Ingram
LJ Figueroa
Quincy Roberts

Tariq Owens, Mikey Dixon, Max Hooper, and David Caraher can play for both teams.

How can you include Nyiwe when he hasn't played a single minute in a St John's uniform yet?

Who was the guard who had a nice outside shot who transferred to Oakland and averaged maybe a dozen a game there?
Larry Wright or Max Hooper.

Didn't Terry Bross transfer in from North Carolina? I believe he was a Long Island kid.

You are thinking of Matt Brust who transfered from UNC (where his older brother played for four years) after a half season.

Terry came in as a freshman with Shelton Jones and Steve Shurina and was from Jersey (moved there with his family from the west coast).

The fact that I can't even remember his first name without referring back to his thread probably means I wasn't 100 percent serious.

But if we're forming a transfer team and I need height, I'm probably taking a flyer on him. As far as I know, he was a TT student and now he's a St. John's one, so he's on my team until I witness that he can't chew gum and run at same time.

Larry Wright.    As for Hooper, anyone who leaves Harvard can't be very smart.
