Tariq Owens has asked St. John’s for a release and will graduate in May, per a source. Averaged 8.4 PPG & 5.9 RPG this season. per Evan Daniels

Staff cannot afford to lose any of the core four. Successful programs (other than the one and done factories) are successful due to continuity and player development. This is disturbing if true.
 
Terrible news. (And confirmed by an insider.) Will things ever turn around for us, or are we doomed?

Disappointing news but couldn't agree more with you about the poster above.

Now that I got my emotional statement out of the way. How did this happen all of a sudden? Wasn’t he just talking about not giving up?

This is a huge hole for our team. So we don’t have a starting center AND we lose our starting power forward? What now? There’s no transfer that has the defensive intensity like Owens. Let alone somebody that knows our NBA style system.

Damn it!
 
I'm not shocked if it happens, since his dad was very vocal in his disappointment about Tariq's lack of shots.

But if the NBA is their goal, it's a weird strategy to go to a lower level to get more shots.

He'd attract a lot more attention here by trying to gain some muscle over the summer and being a Jerome Williams-type junkyard dog for us starting at the four in what would have been a high-octane offense.

I know there's been a lot of grad transfer speculation, but he was never going to lose his starter spot. It would have been Keita coming off bench, although i'm sure staff would have been vague about this when talking to Sedee. Sucks because now we'll need to find two big men.

Once again they need to target at least two bigs preferably grad transfers. Hope to avoid 2 bench players the extent of bench. Think Keita is a fouler
 
Would be perfect fit now for Jordan Brown - other than that small miracle happening, this is big loss.

Afraid to look this up - number of transfers we have lost must be a record.
 
Hopefully, there's a change of heart. I can't think where he could go to get more playing time.
 
What a joke. Kid is averaging 25+ minutes a game in the BE playing in a pick & roll style offense and he’s looking elsewhere ? I bet this was leaked ny his dad to Evan Daniels. Zach Brazille hasn’t confirmed yet.
