Achiuwa May redshirt

After just watching the 'Cuse/SDSU game on tape, Polee did not start and looked bad in the few minutes he played. Sheppard didn't look very good either and has no jump shot. The whole Aztec team was bad..,they can't shoot, they play soft D and are awful at the free throw line. For their sake, hopefully this is some early season jitters and new players coming together. Their whole offense is driving to the basket and drawing fouls. They shot 33 times from the line and made 14. Can't beat anyone that way, let alone Syracuse. And, they can't hit 3's with many of their attempts not even drawing iron (which likely had something to do with the wind, which must have impacted their free throws too). Syracuse looked really good in the first half, and seemed to coast in the 2nd half. They're tough.

Didn't need this game to know Syracuse was going to be tough. I'd wait until SDSU plays in a real game (inside without wind in your face and sun in your eyes) before I pass judgement. Sheppard didnt shoot well, agreed, but he rebounded, handled and passed really well in the few minutes I watched and looked pretty effortless doing it. Didn't see (or notice Polee)

Difference of opinion on Sheppard's handle. I thought his play was sloppy, as was much of SDSU's in the game. That had less to do with sun and wind and more to do with wings trying to penetrate with a lot of one on one play. They could really use an effective pg, but I didn't see one yesterday. Agreed we can judge them later in the year when they've settled in.

This plan better get scrapped quick.

Completely agree

I said last week that we probably would see GG suit up in Charleston. Scratch that idea. I think we see him, and possibly, Balamou suit up tomorrow.

We need to come out and run these other less athletic teams out of the gym. Having a deep bench allows us to do that. We need GG and Felix on the court and hopefully Marco. There is no reason to redshirt Felix in my opinion. GG if Sanchez was eligible made sense. Our strength would be full court trapping defense and taking the other team out of their offensive scheme. Scratch whatever they were trying to do in exhibition.

I have a feeling we'll eventually get Bourgault. I also think we're gonna now need GG and Balamou (moreso, GG than Balamou) since things doesn't seem good for Sanchez.

I think we'll also see more trapping from our defense with the added depth. Remember, we'll also be getting Branch next month.

Is there any news on Sanchez? All Ive seen is speculation and innuendo. I thought we were waiting to hear what the NCAA has to say which granted could take a lifetime but is there something I'm missing?

Mostly just rumor. Sanchez wrote on his facebook wall something along the lines of "I got bad news today, but life will go on. Mistakes I made 3 years ago seemed like a good idea at the time, yada yada yada"

Cuse is real long and will be difficult to outrebound. Talk about athleticism; going to be tough to beat.

I think you watched a lot more of the game than I did so I'll trust your opinion but in the few plays I saw involving Sheppard he looked pretty good, and I don't recall him taking a shot except a layup he was fouled on. Must have been his highlights.
