ACC and MSG Chatter picking up

If the ACC pledged to use the Garden every year, there is very little chance that we (the new Big East) or the America-12 keeps MSG.

Lets face it: Duke, Syracuse and Maryland combined would out-draw our entire conference combined attendance wise. The ACC would blow our attendance mark out of the water. Sad but the truth.

That's the rub, though. I can't see the ACC agreeing to do it at MSG on an annual basis. They won't get permission from the Duke and UNC bigwigs to totally abandon there precious state of North Carolina as a tournament site.

Adam is a baboon. Louisville and Syracuse are wrong for trying to bring the ACC to NYC. I actually feel the Big East will become even bigger and better without all those other teams. They all want recruiting rights and exposure. If MSG is smart they will stick with the Big East. I doubt Jay Z will support the ACC to Barclay's. The ACC should play at The Boston Garden if they want to move this far North from NC.

Yes but Maryland is leaving to the Big 10 with all of their fans ; )

Let's face it, your comment is ridiculous!
The ACC, in all of its Big East penis envy would never forsake the south for a long term deal just to placate Syracuse. As I stated earlier, you and no one in the ACC or MSG knows who will be coaching Duke or Syracuse in 2017. Maryland has sued the ACC to depart for the BIG. The ACC is the last of the major conferences that is still unstable. Their football will still be below BCS championship level and should another football school leave and Uconn join, they will be the old Big East without a NYC school. MSG DID NOT BID. The Big East has a contract with MSG. What part of that escapes your attention?

PS. Speaking of the departing Maryland Terrapins and Duke, pay attention to tonight's ACC playoff game.

The only way the ACC gets multiple games at MSG annualy is to poach St. Johns & Georgetown.

I know many here think it will never happen but, if next year St. Johns has a seriously successful season and MSG is rocking and packed with enthusiastic fans every game, cheering a top 15 ranked team, the ACC will take a second look. And after the Big-12 & SEC poach more of their teams, that league will be even more receptive to the idea, which I believe is sort of in the back of their minds already.

It will not happen. I know you said it before. The ACC kicked tires when the dominos started falling. The idea was the 3 schools including Nova. But there is actually loyalty in addition to the common sense and the basketball schools never looked much into it. ACC was thinking about 14 football with those 3 and ND rounding out 18 team conference.

Why is Maryland OH Maryland in the picture and is the ACC done figuring out who they are? I guess that might be up to the SEC. Why would ACC schools wanna play up here on a regular basis anyway? Wanting to improve their hoops is one thing, losing entire identity another.
Come on T. Rab, your a good poster. ACC schools going to want to play up here every year. How about the Kentucky Derby at Aqueduct every February.

After Fox treats us like gold we gonna throw them a drucken. Think big. Maybe Fox gets the best of whats left of the ACC here. I know I'm stretchen, but I have played with the idea of those guys crumbling, and it feels nice.

It's not as much "forsaking the South" as you make it seem. The most important members of their conference have a MAJOR alumni and fan presence in the NYC-metro area. Not counting a year of Maryland: Duke, Syracuse, UNC and even Boston College & Miami all have huuuuge bases in NYC. Those schools would draw more fans than 90% of the new Big East. And the bottom of the Big East wouldn't exactly severely outdraw the bottom of the ACC. DePaul, Butler, Xavier will not have very many more fans than Clemson, VA Tech, and the Wakes of the ACC. I know there is a contract, but I believe that eventually the ACC will be able to wedge their way into MSG at least once every few years.

And if MSG wants to try and get the ACC every few years BE could say goodbye and all of a sudden the Garden is empty 3 out of every 4 March's. Negotiation.

You throw percentages around like there is no tomorrow!
Boston College plays to half-empty Conte arena! Until this miracle year, Miami could not sell out their own arena. Duke, Cuse and UNC would bring their fans...yes. In the Big East, so would Georgetown, St. John's, Villanova, Xavier, Dayton, Seton Hall, Providence and Marquette. Creighton and St. Louis play to sold out arenas and most of those schools can get 1,500 fans to NYC for an experience you do not get in Greensboro or Chicago. The Garden is not worried in the least about ticket sales.
The key, my redmen fan, is St. John's and getting at least 2 games in the tourney. A successful SJ means over 75,000 students, alums and fans of SJ will fill most of the Garden.
PS. Did you pay attention to the Duke-Maryland game? At least in the south, the Duke fans have a short ride back to Durham!

The Big 10 has also expressed interest in having their tourney in NYC. Barclays was mentioned but I could see MSG having an interest in alternating conference tournaments btwn ACC, Big 10.

I have expressed interest in alternating sex between Mila Kunis and Scarlett Johansson. On occasion with both at the same time.

Funny how the only ones who keep trying to keep the "ACC to MSG" rumors alive are the schools leaving the Big East for the ACC. Hmm, could it be a case of "be careful what wish for"? Sounds like they are already regretting the move & it hasn't even happened yet. Could it be that Syracuse, Pitt, ND & Louisville are finding out what BC already knows...that the ACC is and always will be a conference where Duke & Carolina rule the roost & everyone else is 2nd fiddle.

Whatever happened to BC basketball? ;-) They ought to talk with the AD at West Virginia.

All kidding aside, well said, NYCRedmen. And we're also seeing Boeheim's and Pitino's true colors now. Despite their public lamentations about leaving the BE, they're now trying their best to screw the new BE. What classy guys. I guess that's one thing they have in common with Coach K.

I think the ACC should have taken St. John's, Nova, and Georgetown. Huge markets, access to MSG and NYC, and they would own basketball without any rival.

Would love to see this happen but if the ACC is raided as many on the group hope will happen my gut feeling is they might go for only Georgetown and Villanova. For those who may not be aware of this ACC Comm John Swofford confirmed that Villanova applied for admission to the ACC (in Sept of 2011). Boston College supported adding Villanova to the ACC. My reservation about SJ is a school from upstate NY that is loathed on this group and that school saying, no, we are New York's college team, MSG is our home away from home and we don't want SJ in the mix. Then again, maybe SJ deciding to continue playing Stracuse for at least the next two years is their way of playing nice with the Orange should something pop up in the future.

I am sick to my stomach when I hear the ACC will move to MSG. Look this is real and we know why, The Cuse, Pitino and the legendary Duke and NC.

We must claim our turf. We need a great marketing campaign for this new conference. The new administration must get the ball rolling as soon a possible. Hype the schools and the rivalry, get all involved. I am 68 and refuse to sit on my hands at the games. We need to appeal to the school to make sure the most vocal fans are sit in CA where the TV camera shows we have an active fan base.

We must see SJU gear in all the stores and have people identify with the school and NYC.

We must not lose this battle to those traitors and rebels from the south.

LET'S REDMEN.............WE ARE ST. JOHNS

G.Town, Johnnie's And Nova don, t need a broken down football league from where they 're sitting. Fox a good partner, have treated the new league great. Why do any of the teams under Fox 's care need to make whore 's out of themselves? We were lookin to scrape together a few bucks and the teams in the league getting 4-5 million. Is Fox a good partner or not? Fox gonna push this new league, and up is the way to go. How about we get ten to twelve teams together and tell everyone else to go blow. This is great. This is what we all been waiting for. Time to stop looking at things
like losers, and injoy the view from where we at.

ACC. were feeling so great about things, they would not be giving MSG a thought. Hows. About that famous walk from Duke to N.C. Not good enough anymore. Now I rambling. I 'm just so happy to find us where we are. You guys do me a tabor and try not to find stuff that belittle w

Talk about having your cake and eating it to! I totally agree with you and don't want to see the ACC in here either, but as you know...it all comes down to the almighty dollar. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but at this poing in college sports, nothing surprises us anymore. Either the ACC puts up enough money to play their tourney at the Garden, it will be a done deal.
