2nd Creighton Game

Should be a win vs Creighton.

Ill be there cheering the team on as always....but i will have my brown bag to put on saying "FIRE LAVIN" in the event we crap the bed.

I'm sitting here laughing at your avi Avon. What a terrible flop that was. Might have been more embarrassing than obekpas foul. Might have been.

LOL...was the "play of the game" for us the other day....MAJOR comedy

Merited comments from Kornheiser and Wilbon on PTI. Neither was very impressed to say the least.

Olbermann showed it, too.

Still, it's not anywhere near as bad as Obekpa's play. It was mostly harmless, and he actually "recovered" to score a basket on the ensuing offensive trip, so it didn't hurt us in anyway.

i have no problem with what Pointer did and i consider that gamesmanship whereas what Chris did was uncalled for and unacceptable.

Totally agree. It just looked ridiculous because no one was in the area. I think he knew and was trying to make a point.

and lets be honest...we can joke about the flop but Dom deserves nothing but praise...he has been our best player lately and hes really been nothing short of tremendous all-around.

Agree 100% on Pointer, as for the gamesmanship, not so much. I understand your point but you (collective, not you personally) can't complain about refeering if you condone that.kind of play. There is just too much flopping in basketball in general and it is all designed to fool the refs. I understand it is part of the game but the whole block / charge play has become ridiculous. Guys are taught to flop and you see some guys do it before ANY contact is made. That and the automatic foul call for going over the back every time a guy 2nd in line gets a rebound drives me crazy.

So we have a Wooden nominee, Dom's all around play, Obekpa improved in many areas, and Jordan showing signs of life, throw in Greene having some big moments, and you know the missing piece(s) is a talented forward, like Sampson.

I feel a Lavin stunt coming on. Season slipping away, I think he uses this game as his canvas for crazy. He will start a walkon or Felix, suspend Harrison or show Dom the proper way to flop during a TV timeout.

Or as I tweeted this morning the kid on Baylor, Gathers who was a one time SJU commit. He had 14 and 17 last night and 11 double doubles for the season.

I'm sure the bad teams are saying the same about us. Should be a win vs. ST. John's

Did they also show the video of the Butler kid (when [strike]fouled[/strike] barely touched by Sir Dom on the 3) going down like Lee Harvey Oswald was in the house? I doubt it. All that was missing was Adagio for Strings.

CO had a flagrant 2. That gets you thrown out of the game, but not suspended for the following game. If it was a fight he would be suspended.

Well then, I guess it is a good thing he knocked the kid woozy or they probably would have fought

I'll be missing my first home game of the season on Saturday. I gave my tickets to a UCONN fan. He's also an obsessive college basketball nut, and just happy to go to a game.

He asked if, in exchange for the tickets, he must root for St. John's. I said no, but he did agree to join the "Fire Lavin" chant.

Hey......my contribution to the program. ;)

I'd say we will look silly carrying this around NYC in February, but you know there are probably some people doing this anyway.

The Maui Invitational will deliver an eight-foot, hand-crafted, authentic surfboard to the St. John's men's basketball team during its game against Creighton on Saturday. Each winter, the Tournament presents a surfboard to each participating team in anticipation of their trip to the beautiful island of Maui. St. John's will make its first appearance in the Maui Invitational this November. Red Storm coach Steve Lavin has coached in two previous Tournaments as a member of the UCLA staff, once as an assistant in 1995 and later as the Bruins' head coach in 2001. UCLA will also be participating in the 2015 Maui Invitational. Indiana, Kansas, Vanderbilt, UNLV, Wake Forest and tournament host Chaminade round out the field.
