25-26 Season

Folks:

I am posting this message in three different threads because people are using them interchangeably and the moderators only have so many hours in the day to move posts to where they belong.

SJU Portal Targets: Discussion of potential incoming SJU transfers who have not yet committed. Once they commit they get their own thread (e.g. Welcome, Cooper Flagg!)

2025 Portal; Portal news that has nothing to do (directly) with SJU (e.g. Tarris Reed staying at U Conn).

25/26 Season: Discussion of anticipated look/developments of next year's team with projected returnees / incoming transfers.

Thanks for your help.

So in other words you’re spamming the board 🤣 I do have a question though: if a post doesn’t fit a thread but you would really like to respond to it what do you do?

Wait for me to move it to where it belongs and THEN respond. :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness a certain amount of off-topic posts are unavoidable - all of us give in to the temptation on a one-off basis from time to time. It just that when an entire thread goes down an off-topic rabbit hole or becomes a conversation that belongs on another thread, it isn't fair to those who click on a thread for news/info about the topic it is supposedly about.

So "exercise good judgment" is really the ask.

I think Prey is as fast (if not faster) on defense with his rotations.

But the key thing is this year, Zuby was a junior and Prey was a freshman. Prey's year holds up better than Zuby's freshman year and is comparable to his sophomore year. Staff not recruiting any bigs should tell us how confident they are in him holding the 4/5
Good analysis, except that Reuben came in skilled, Zuby raw. Reuben is a good on ball defender on perimter vs guards but no evidence he runs the floor like Zuby. I don't kmow what the staff is focused on, but Prey is more if a forward and Vince and Maker are behind Zuby as post players. Unsure of Maker's progress.

Even if we land the top class this year, I don’t expect us to win 30 games in the regular season.

We were the beneficiaries of some really good luck and a soft Big East.

We could win mess games and still be far more dangerous in March.
I also hope, like UConn is doing, we up the ante on quality of out of conference games. Scheduling w mega conferences with so many in league games is challenging, but we have to make a concerted effort to use MSG success as leverage for some top home and home arrangements.

Not so long ago (maybe only 2 or 3 years ago), our conference games were all highly valued.....

I thought I read that Pitino wanted to use a little Vince with Zuby next year. Did I hear right?

Talk about a defeatist attitude. We won 30 games and who’s to say we can’t again. Four 1 seeds all won a ton of games and they are in San Antonio. Being a 6, 7 8 or 9 seed isn’t getting us anywhere. Let’s go. Take this opportunity and keep going full throttle.

He said in regular season though I Guess hes including BET. Obviously you try to go 30-4 or better. But you don't need 30 wins to be a 4 seed or better.

The tradeoff is hopefully a stronger BE and a stronger non conference. So maybe a couple of fewer wins/more losses but still very strong metrics and a shot at a high seed again.

Either way I think people need to stop taking every single thing he says as exactly what he means to a T. He is just saying 31 wins is hard to duplicate even when you have another good year.

Our non conference was not great because the teams we played also didn’t hold up their end of the bargain. Baylor, KState,Virginia, Georgia, if we beat Baylor ( would have played Tennessee, would have our metrics been better? They tried scheduling better. New Mexico ended up being solid. I’d like to see us play Indiana at the Garden. Bring in a few SEC/Big Ten teams. Home and Home with Duke should come back.
