Still 1-2 players to enter portal if Pitino's 6-7 players returning quote was true.

Rothstein;

“St. John's will have arguably the best PF/C combo in the country next season with Bryce Hopkins and Zuby Ejiofor.”

Agreed. But, we have an undersized C and PF (likely 6’6”), which you can live with in the college game given what they bring. Just need to make sure we add length at SF (TBD) and SG (which we did). Let’s add a starting PG, get our SF, then add around the edges depending on who is returning.

Hopkins does have long arms though. That’s probably a top 5 big man tandem for switchability. It’s probably also one of the smaller tandems.

No doubt. Great player in my mind. Only point was that we need to make sure we have size at other positions to compensate. I Also helps with RP’s defensive scheme.
I completely agree. I’m trying to convince myself they can work😂 I think we need some length elsewhere…Demery would help for sure playing some point.

Need some tall wing too.

Well, it worked this past season. RJ and Scott were the two primary forwards, both close in height. Hopkins definitely more of a force down low, not as athletic. I’d love to see a 6’7” 3D wing (Scott plus the 3).

Have to think Maker or Vince portal, no? With the front court locked up there won't be much playing time for both. They also look to be very similar players / projects so not sure how the coexist. Unless Maker is a big body understudy to Vince that steps in next year when Zuby and Bryce are both gone. I know Vince drove a lot of us nuts last year, but he seems to be (obviously) further along at this point and I think could do well getting 8 to 10 minutes a game to spell Zuby / Bryce.

Part of what hurt Vince last year was trying to play in the ever-rotating man to man defense Rick employed. This year, if we have more consistent shooters and scorers, we might not have to rely on our defense as a source of offense which could result in a zone look when Vince is on the floor. I think next year could be a better year for Vince if he sticks since he would be effective in a defensive scheme like that.

Wait till Marillac gets a hold of Pitino and explains why Vince is terrible.

Marillac is and has been wrong on that one, btw. I look for a nice jump in Vince's game next year.

I wasn't wrong about Vince, but I am tired of disparaging a depth player. If he comes back, I will commit to only saying positive things about him. I would expect him to improve with a full offseason with Pitino. We also have 15 roster spots, so it only helps carrying more size.

Needs to get stronger and work on footwork. Still very raw and RP can help there
