I honestly thought it might have been a mistake and they called the wrong 7 footer in lol.Saw him with a pronounced limp right after his few cameo appearances![]()
“Tutugate”I heard Pitino is going to use a ballet coach to work with Vince on his footwork.
The last four games give me some hope Vince will be serviceable next year.
"Since 2002, all but two Madness champs have been a top 20 team in both adjusted offensive rating and adjusted defensive rating according to KenPom."I mentioned this on the latest episode of the podcast with Zach, and it comes from conversations with people around the team. It's not an accident (obviously) that they are trying to focus on the offensive side of the ball. Sanon and Hopkins are elite offensive weapons. Now keep adding shooters.
The eight teams remaining last weekend NCAA tournament were are all top 40 in offense and defense in KenPom. If you take out Texas Tech everyone was at least 26 and higher in both. The four remaining teams are top 10 in both. St. John's has one of those boxes checked with their identity, but 65 on offense isn't going to cut it and that's how you end up with an Arkansas result cause you didn't have enough to overcome a season worst shooting day, by everyone, not just RJ.
Adding guys like Sellers with a true PG who can distribute and give you 4-5 guards who can all give you at least 10-4-5 a night would turn this team into a far more complete one. Defense will not be allowed to wavered on that's why I don't even bring it up. Not playing defense like we did this year is a non starter. The Aaron Scott-architype will be filled for sure and you just have to hope he can be 3/4 the dog that Scott was.
I also think a big plus is that he's going to be more familiar with the staff and scheme, so unlike other shiny portal guys, he will be able to hit the ground running next year.Vince pluses: He's big. He runs the floor pretty well for a guy his size. He has nice touch offensively for a guy his size. Those are three things you can't teach.
Vince minuses: His reaction time on both ends is slow. It's particularly noticeable on the offensive end where he holds the ball too long thinking about his move and some guard comes and takes it away from him. On the defensive end he winds up out of position and has to recover - which he does sometimes for blocks. Terrible rebounder for a guy his size, also likely from not being in the right position.
I think that most of those are correctable to some extent with coaching, dedicated practice time, and getting some actual run in game situations.
Hopefully he will get some run in the early season games and we will see what we have. I think he can be a very useful part of a good team.
Agree. Just can’t expect him to switch on defense like Zuby.I also think a big plus is that he's going to be more familiar with the staff and scheme, so unlike other shiny portal guys, he will be able to hit the ground running next year.

The shorter version is: keep playing good defense and have a functional offense. We didn't have the latter last year. Or the year before, TBH."Since 2002, all but two Madness champs have been a top 20 team in both adjusted offensive rating and adjusted defensive rating according to KenPom."
That's what we're going for here. We've basically got to move up 40 (!) spots offensively, and have 19 spots defensively of wiggle room. I obviously understand that you don't play games on computers with efficiency ratings, but that's how I am framing this offseason.
A poster a few months ago said that looking at Vince move in the paint resembled a "horse on roller skates". Very funny... but unfortunately very true. The ballet coach better be no less than Mihkail Baryshnikov!I heard Pitino is going to use a ballet coach to work with Vince on his footwork.
With the NIL we have most likely big fish onlyDo you know the San Fran kid won't be for a fact? Or do you just think we only will go for big fish? Genuinely curious.
I don't even want 13 so I hope we don't try to fill 15.I thought next year you could have 15 players?
As soon as revenue sharing is approved I believe.I thought next year you could have 15 players?
Yeah, but do you NEED 15 players?I thought next year you could have 15 players?
Just on another team..Rim to Rim in a straight line, Vince can run with most any 7 footer. It’s the changing directions that puts him cement.
It’s his inability to take up space that bothers me the most. I have a semi serious thought that he has low shoulders or a long neck lol. Would like to see how his standing reach measures to other guys his height. Flaws and all there's still a place for a senior 7 footer with experience.
