Value & move the ball, don’t get too fancy, concentrate/communicate on D & SJ will get a needed road win which helps somewhat make up for mediocre ooc schedule to date. It is all about piling up points for Dance bid. Let’s win this one.
Less than mediocre OOC schedule as I read where we are ranked 344th. Guess it could be worse though as there are 363 D1 teams.

If they try to do what we do, we will hurt them. Our 2 point guards can handle that. It’s what they do everyday in practice.

If they attempt to play fast like us, it will be to their detriment.

I really like the matchup to be honest. They’re not gonna pound us inside, and they want to pressure us? Not what I would do. I think they’re coach will adjust. He better.
If we try to double P&R’s like they do we will get burned from 3. Not our game. Their pressure is not to speed up the game full court, like us. It’s to force the ball away from the rim and get the ball out of the PGs hands. I worry about our guards’ tendency to turn it over.

Don’t get beat on the offensive boards and win the TO battle and I think we’ll be in position to win one on the road.

Now the season really starts and it won’t be long before we find out how much has SJU improved. Under Anderson’s leadership the two glaring problems have been the three point shooting and the failure to perform at crunch time in close ball games.
The three point shooting appears to be similar to past years with Storr the only reliable shooter who probably is not ready to contribute in the big east battles which are usually down to the wire games.
This is where Curbello comes in. Anderson hasn’t had a player like him who can create a shot opportunity for himself or a teammate with the game on the line. He also has the confidence to takeover a game. No more passing the ball around the perimeter with someone throwing up a three at crunch time. Put the ball in Curbellos hand.

You forgot to use caps.

To me, the two biggest must haves to win are taking care of the ball on offense and not allowing open threes. It's tempting to look at Iowa State and say Grill is their only 3 point threat but that is not the case. Holmes, Grill, Kalscheur & Kunc all will take the three and looking beyond early season numbers they've all shown they can make them. Kalscheur in particular is very streaky. Iowa State is a really experienced team. We can win this game but imho we need a nice game from Joel and need to minimize turnovers. And please guys, make your foul shots!
Let's go Johnnies!

Indeed, we need more Bob Knight and less Bob Newhart on the court!

So true about Curbelos value to this team especially in close games with little time left. Also love having such reliability in a big man, Soriano, to make a key shot inside in a pressure situation. Add Jones and Posh to that mix, and in my mind we are a winner here and going on to much bigger and better wins! This is not fantasy hype! These guys are good, experienced, AND fearless!

That's a bold statement.

Opened 3.5
You weren't far off with the 2.5 to 3 which like I said makes sense to me based on the analytics. Given that Iowa State is ranked and has wins over blue bloods Villanova and UNC 3.5 isn't shocking. Don't expect the line to move much.

It moved. ;) :) :ROFLMAO:

Gotta hit free throws and control the glass. We can win a close one on the road here but can’t afford to not take advantage at the line or give them extra possessions off offensive rebounds.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Stanley get a little extra time today. Doesn’t give up easy buckets and fights for boards. I didn’t expect too much when they recruited him and it feels like he may be leveling up a bit this season. Very pleasant surprise.

We will win by 11, which is a greater margin than Jets and Giants, who will both also win. A glorious day for NY sports.
