What a tremendous opportunity for our guys. Hilton will be rockin, but we won’t be scared. Quite the opposite actually.
Got a feeling the Hilton will be rocking, then will be very quiet with 3 minutes to go while up by 15.
Coach Anderson has something to prove, the team has something to prove. will this team be the same as the past 20 years or a team that is determined to ROCK NYC. This is a huge game that will tell me alot. Hopefully Curbello plays a serious game without that smirk on his face.
Joel gotta be a beast in that game.

I seriously can't wait for Sunday.

Got a veteran team that has played in venues more daunting than Hilton. We are the tougher team. All of our starting 5 has played in big environments and I don’t think our youngins will be scared.

Tremendous opportunity for the Johnnies.

That’s the key, if we want to win close games in hostile environments, we must treat offensive possessions like gold. Can’t afford self inflicting sloppy turnovers.
Iowa state impressively averages more steals a game than we do. They are very aggressive in the half-court looking to trap off ball screens. We’re going to have to be much crisper than we have been handling the ball.

If they try to do what we do, we will hurt them. Our 2 point guards can handle that. It’s what they do everyday in practice.

If they attempt to play fast like us, it will be to their detriment.

I really like the matchup to be honest. They’re not gonna pound us inside, and they want to pressure us? Not what I would do. I think they’re coach will adjust. He better.

Over the past month the one deterring factor for us has been tightening up on loose dribbling, cross court and fast break lazy passing. This won't fly in a tough road environment with a stout defensive team. Key is seeing early shots go in, getting Soriano involved and hopefully capitalizing on our fully healthy roster with smart substitutions. I don't think that this is a do or die game for us but damnit will it help ease things up for us. Beating DePaul Wednesday also holds great importance, we can't afford a slip up there, especially with Anei and Ogenda out.

Doesn't Iowa State practice what they do everyday? I doubt that we are the only ones who practice the game plan.

SJ press release excerpt

“Iowa State is led by second year Head Coach T.J. Otzelberger who guided the Cyclones to a 22-13 record and run to the Sweet 16 in 2021-22. This season, Iowa State is off to a 6-1 start with victories over Villanova and then-No. 1 North Carolina in the Phil Knight Invitational. The Cyclones’ lone loss of the year came in the PKI Championship Game, falling to UConn, 71-53.

The Cyclones are among the nation’s best in causing opposing mistakes, ranking fourth with an +8.1 turnover margin and ninth with 11.4 steals per contest. Iowa State has also held teams 56.3 points per game this season, good for 11th in Division I.”

“St. Bonaventure transfer Jaren Holmes leads the team with 14.9 points per game. Former Bonnie teammate Osun Osunniyi, a two-time Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, is also averaging double-figures with 10.3 points per contest. Fellow senior Caleb Grill (11.0 ppg) has started all seven games as well, after coming off the bench in 35 contests and leading the team with 57 threes last season.”
